Welcome to Wolves Marshall Munetsi

It's linked to Lycan's post on another thread. Our squad depth in terms of recognised first team options is probably deeper than at any time in the PL other than the half a season under Lop. How many of them do you actually want to see starting a game though?

He'll be a useful sub with 20 mins to go.

I respect your point of view.

Just can’t understand how we’ve got to the point of allowing an obviously-awful, League 2 footballer to come on and represent us in the PL to “run around for 20 minutes and cause havoc”?

Because, at absolute best, that’s all your gonna get.

What sort of nonsense is that?

You can’t create a winning ethos with those sort of parameters? It’s crazy?

I agree. Though my main issue then is us spending £18m (a lot for us these days..) on someone who is nearly 29 so unlikely to improve much either.
Yep.

Just shows how we swing.

2024 Jan window this signing might have been enough to get us into Europe, we didn't speculate to accumulate and relied on children and suffered as a result.

This season we felt we HAD to make the signing to help us stay up.

Well at least there's a huge amount of room for improvement...

It's tough to be too critical as was made to play out of position last night and it showed, but then in one season we have now spent 26m on a keeper I never want to see playing for us and looked extremely poorly scouted from the beginning, and a midfielder that we don't want for anything other than a cameo already, and again looks poorly scouted.

The concern is that how many of these do you collect before it becomes too difficult to overcome or they are blocking other signings. It's very odd and a bit of a red flag for potentially A) needing to stay up and B) constantly having to face up to selling your best player and trusting these decision makings not to keep doing this.

So many awful signings from 2019 onwards.

Cutrone
Jordao
Matheson
Vallejo
Silva
Marçal
Hoever
José
Kawabe
Trincao
Hwang
Collins
Guedes
Nunes
Kalajdzic (not his fault really)
Costa
Bentley
King
Doherty
S Bueno
Gonzalez (clearly way too much money for what he is)
N Lemina (the playing version of Carl Hoddle)
Meupiyou (see Gonzalez)
Johnstone
Djiga (has to go down on the list at the moment as if he isn't better than the two clowns in the team, he shouldn't be here)
Forbs

That is fucking awful.

A lot of the problem seems to stem from haggling over a couple of million for preferred targets who may well be signed and sealed but then look elsewhere whilst we prevaricate. Madness really when you then spend similar on sub-standard players that prove to be rubbish and cost the club far more than the relatively small amount they’ve baulked at paying.

Err excuse me Tony, it's been at least 2 weeks since I mentioned him! Do you know how hard that has been.
Tbf, you called it before we even signed him. I’d bring it up every possible opportunity!!

Excuse me but I got there first

You have to go back to Robert Taylor, Paul Jones II, Tomasz Frankowski or Leon Clarke II for a meaningful signing that was so obviously such a shit, shit, shit idea.

TWENTY SEVEN MILLION POUNDS. If someone came in and bid £2.7m for him you'd snap their hands off and call it a robbery.

Even leaving aside his criminal lack of ability and effort, he can't ever last more than about 65 minutes. So physically impossible of contributing properly.

I'm gunna backtrack now. I said last night I wasn't going to judge him too harshly yet but I feel Bouba is a better all round footballer.
