Underwhelmed. 43 goals in 174 games for Soton, and no reason to think he will do better at Wolves. I would rather we had found a younger up and coming striker from League 1 who could get us 20 goals next season (no idea if there actually is such a player).
Having said that, he does have 11 this season, which must be way more than JSL, Tolu, and Hwang combined.

I think you're gunna spend the next season and a half being very disappointed.
He has an excellent record in the Championship, if we build a squad of players of his standard plus manage to get a bit of quality in, he could well get close to 20 goals and help fire us back into the Premier league.
Obviously he would then need replacing.

Will be handy next season, this season, not going to score much less than our previous no.9

This signing should be making us fucking fume (no offence Adam lad).

We have managed to reduce our forwards down from Raul, via Cunha & JSL to a Championship forward in just a few seasons.
Pathetic management from all involved in this sorry state of affairs and why we are seriously threatening the tag of the worst team in PL history

BUT...

It does hopefully show, for the first time in a number of seasons a little bit of forward thinking. The situation has been accepted and planning adjusted with what comes next. No burying the head, despite the standard transfer window bullshit bingo on comments.
We say it every year but the next window we have to move early. We should be at the head of the queue for the majority of our targets and if we really are looking forward for a change then it needs to happen and to prove this move is part of the bigger picture and not just "ah well, he was cheap and will do"

It's £7m with £2m add ons, which if achieved presumably means he's done well. Around half the price Southampton paid for him, although he'll be 30 during the season we've bought him for
