This is being massively over analysed when there are obvious simple explanations.
Because we wanted to mitigate for a potential loss of form or injury!?Not really.
Everyone in the squad is younger than Doc, and as for experience, Djiga has played over 100 first team games. At CB.
If he trusts Doc so much in that position (been playing there since just before Xmas), why even bother spending so much money on a player we didn't need?
Yeah, and he's been effective. There's an obvious, simple explanation why we signed Munetsi and why Vitor persists with playing him too

In exactly a way that we haven't in the past.
I think if Doc gets injured Djiga is more likely to start than Bueno. What kind of mitigation is it if Djiga still has had next to no PL playing time?
Doc loses form or is injured right now and it's Santi shoehorned into the back three, same as if we hadn't made a signing at all
Anyway I'm done with this, it is being massively over analysed.
I'm glad we haven't needed to use him, because it's because of the good form of our starting defenders and the team itself.
Maybe without that squad competition form wouldn't have improved.
I'll have one last go before everyone falls asleep with yet another meaningless none argument.Way too harsh on Munetsi and way too many excuses and Vitor second guessing on Djiga on this thread.
Munetsi cost way too much and is awful and not even a footballer, yet when the same recruitment and management team who spent just £6m less on someone who is barely above Alfie Pond in the pecking order he gets waved through as 'one for the future' (not according to Hobbs) and 'we haven't seen enough of him', 'Doc has been great' and 'Vitor trusts Doc more'.
Why trust Vitor and the club on Djiga but not on Munetsi?
alright there walshes wolves?Munetsi and Djiga were literally signed in our last transfer window.
One has their name in everyone's mouth daily and the other is barely mentioned. Both cost in the £10-20m bracket.
Questioning only one transfer is unfair.
I'll have one last go before everyone falls asleep with yet another meaningless none argument.
I don't see how anyone can't see Munetsi isn't very good technically and a poor finisher so far, he may improve with time.
He clearly has merits in other areas of his game, everyone can see his attitude and effort is very good but he'll need to improve on that if he's to challenge for a spot next season. As soon as Cunha is available, Munetsi will be back on the bench, he's playing because the alternatives are garbage.
I think everyone has said its concerning Djiga hasn't played more minutes.
I'm not sure what there is to disagree about.
I don't think anyone has said anything significantly different to what you're saying.
Not a chore for me at all mate, I'm retired, I've literally got fuck all else to doIf it's such a chore you're not compelled to reply, you know mate![]()
The things that fans don't notice/realise.
As you’ve said xG is limited. The shot hitting the bar had an xG of 0.15. He’s got a free shot at goal from the penalty spot with an unset keeper, anything on target is a goal. It should have a higher xG than a penalty. The defenders will have changed the algorithm. But they had no impact on the play1 goal from.an xG of 1.9 according to fbref
My point was the cost factors in to people’s perception of a player. But your point was about how much Munetsi cost? Djiga wasn't a free transfer or a £2m punt
Fair point. I’d still expect him to be able to play a part now though. Granted doc has done ok/wellNot to the same degree, IMO. France ain’t up to the England standard but it’s still a higher level than Serbia, surely.
