Welcome to Wolves Marshall Munetsi

Not a concern for me just yet, but was the wrong player to sign in January if he needs an extended settling in period.

Yeah we have been fortunate that Doherty has done a reasonable job as the central defender on the right and Agbadou's injury wasn't too bad as in January we needed a CB that could come in and play not someone that would be 5th choice and needs a long settling period.

I’ve had a word about it. Turns out lots of people are perfectly happy with an emergency buy to drop in and add value immediately but actually needs six months followed by a preseason.

£10m is a lot of money for what you’ve described IMO. We'll have Mosquera back before then.

Munetsi and Djiga were both January relegation-busting signings, but only one has made any kind of contribution, the other one may as well not be here, and we could well have made a better defensive acquisition with some/all of that money in the summer.

Djiga isn't Meupiyou; he has over 100 first team career games in four different countries (five including England), played 17 times this season plus 8 (?) CL games, so what exactly does he need six months to do? Hobbs said he was a signing for the short and long term.

Incidentally, I don't have a problem with either signing as desperation/investment punts, but it's not fair that only one signing gets shit on here (including the constant incorrect Munetsi figure that conveniently gets thrown in to bolster the point).

The odds of him not needing one were always slim, which the club should have been completely aware of. Alas.

18m what?

Cos if you mean £ then he cost 16.

Djiga cost us £10m and never a word about that
Sorry, 16m.

Agree with Djiga, it’s very much out of sight out of mind though. Literally nothing to say about him is there? Obviously he’s not played which is a very bizarre signing. But with Munetsi you can talk about a lot more - but more of a conversation isn’t there

But your point was about how much Munetsi cost? Djiga wasn't a free transfer or a £2m punt

Djiga would be playing Doherty hadn't performed as well as he has.

Much rather we had some depth in the squad rather than the numerous times we've had to field kids or players that are nowhere near good enough. I don't really understand the fretting about it.

If you look at Djiga's age, background, experience and reputation it looks a fair price - any comments about writing him off are nonsense. As much as I don't like to admit it Doc has been ok and doesn't deserve dropping. I can also see why you would bring on old man bueno to close out a game rather than a new signing with probably limited English.

No one's writing him off and you're both missing the point

When Djiga initially didn’t play and then when he eventually did and looked underwhelming there was a lot of questioning of why we signed him. Since then he has barely appeared so not surprisingly there’s not been much discussion about him. Not much point in repeatedly pointing out that spending g £10m on a player who doesn’t play ahead of Doherty and Bueno isn’t great business in the short term.

Six months is quite a long time to be having zero impact, in the context of the length of a contract. I'm presuming his salary didn't need time to settle in. Where he is in the pecking order on October 2nd is going to be the value barometer though.

TWF repeats the same criticisms of players on an infinite loop (we've just started the Munetsi one), even when they leave, so it's only fair Nasser gets his share?

No worse than say Dendoncker on his arrival.

We all presumed we were signing a CB ready to come in and play, especially as we had Danso lined up before him.
Turns out, we pivoted to a let's replace the 5th choice defender and have an eye on the future with him.

I like that strategy if your choices ahead are ok at the moment. And for once they seem to be so.
