Things that make you SAD thread.

But equally those who are minded to give a toss know much more about nutrition etc these days. So maybe the healthy ones are healthier and the lazy sods are worse off (but protected by a better health system, in theory).

I bet there are more lazy unhealthy sods than consciously healthy ones.

That depends on which social strata you move in I suppose. I don't work with the general public like you sort of do by extension so perhaps I am disconnected from that. I want nothing to do with them.

Most of my friends and family do try at least a little to look after themselves. I'm no budding triathlete but I do try to keep stuff that I know is bad for me within some kind of limits.

50% of me is overweight, does that count ?

BMI on its own is a crude measure of obesity. On that basis the all of any international rugby pack are obese, no one can say that they are unfit.

It's a crude measure of obesity if you only apply it to international rugby packs but as the vast majority of the population don't fall into that category and do not have above average muscle mass it is an extremely efficient measure of body fat.

It's a terrible and extremely inefficient measure of body fat and a crude measurement of body morphology at best. Not everybody can have skin caliper tests or organ x-rays but at the very least people should be body typed (somatotyping). It isn't hard and would save the NHS long term cash for a short term loss.

BMI doesn't adequately consider gender, height or genetics and is only used because people think it is a measure worth trusting. Even the specialists do not recommend BMI as a measure of obesity as it is massively unreliable. Ergonomists hate it as it does nothing but skew data.

We think the boy is coming down with Chicken Pox.

We're due to fly to Athens in six days...

He seems to be fine.

We took him to the doctors and the practitioner wouldn't confirm a diagnosis, so we've just had to wait. Since then, it (he woke up on the morning of the 24 with his face and neck covered in spots) hasn't spread and no further spots have appeared so it was either an allergic reaction or a viral infection. Weird really, but at least we should be able to fly on the 30th.

Glad to hear little one is ok for traveling, and enjoy your holiday :)

So just come back from the Dr's, (1st check up since we moved 2.5 years ago). Had a general check up with a several blood tests, got a call to go in today to talk about a few things...

Was told my cholesterol was quite high and my good cholesterol was quite low, spent a good 45 minutes talking about several things, all the main checks such as lover, kidney and prostate were normal, apart from high cholesterol, so a change of lifestyle is in order, no more fatty fried foods and a daily dose of krill oil, have another evaluation in 90 days and a possible medical regime...

Anyone else have this condition that can share some helpful tips? :)

Don't have that condition or any real helpful tips except maybe pies and bacon are off the menu for a while. Hey, if I can live on cabbage water for 3 week stints then you can cut out some fried stuff ! Wishing you well Ray.

I know that was a typo Ray, but it did make me laugh, cause when I had that test done, they checked my liver...
So when the doc discussed your LOVER, what did he actually say...?
