The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

It's larger than Vice City, San Andreas, IV and Red Dead Redemption combined. Mental.

Haha Stan, that is true!

The map is going to be massive and with some luck it will be back towards the San Andreas lunacy.

The issue I had with GTA IV was that the combat played like a shit, clunky shooting game and the driving parts played like a sluggish racer.

The production values were utterly brilliant but the gameplay didn't gel well for me.

However, Rockstar managed to get Red Dead Redemption absolutely spot on in that respect so I have hope.

I disagree about gta 4 because it was Rockstars attempt at being serious, Ok it was a little clunky but is better than what most companies have put out 5 years later. I just hope they build on the Red Dead gameplay and put the GTA lunacy and fun into the game and then I won't put the thing down.

I loved GTA4. I played it on PC and some of the combat stuff was better on a mouse and keyboard. I thought the driving was great though. Not too fast that you can't control it, but not so unrealistic that you can take corners at full speed.

It was the first game I've played all the way through since RollerGames on the NES.

In fact I still have the add-ons to play, but I don't get much gametime these days.

San Andreas sucked though. The maps were waaaaay too big for their own good. Just a whole load of nothing.

Just watched the trailers. That Trevor character looks brilliant!

I'm not sure I'm keen on the handpainted cartoon style graphics, but I guess it's a good compromise vs using a lot of processing power on realistic graphics.

Obviously doesn't like lunacy.

Gta 4 on the pc was excellent because of mainly the mods people made. My favourites were the Iron man one and the Prison escape one because it was brilliant how the civilians and the police reacts to them individually.

Obviously doesn't like lunacy.

If there was an element of lunacy then that'd be fine, but there were vast expanses of desert and woodland that did nothing but to separate the different areas. Big for the sake of enormity.

I've not messed about with the GTA4 mods yet. I did a lot of that with Vice City, but just haven't got the time now. Just want to pick up and play, and GTA4 has been great for that.

Combine harvesters in that vast space mate and yeh I get the point it was in parts big for the sake of big but it was a good game. I just hope in gta 5 which has already been stated as absolutely massive there is use to the huge area.

I haven't finished GTA IV and can't see myself doing so.

I adored San Andreas, the ultimate game for simply pissing about. Fantastic fun.

Vice City >>>>> all other GTAs. For the soundtrack if nothing else.

Only ever played III, Vice City and San Andreas, and I thought each one got better as they went along. III was good fun, VC took it to another level and SA streamlined it even further imo. In fact, I've still got to complete the final mission...

I have the General Lee Mod. It's brilliant and can set car alarms off with revving.

New Batman game release date announced, Batman: Arkham Origins to be released 25.10.2013. Also, contrary to what's been said so far, Kevin Conroy (who voices Batman) will be reprising his role as Batman for this game, it was previously said that he wasn't, but he was there at Comic-Con to announce he was.

A trailer for the new game is below.

How the bloody hell do you embed videos on here? Tried a few things but it's just coming up empty?
