The Transfer Thread 2024/25 - Everything Not Wolves

The Premier League could stop all of these bullshit deals for academy players by stating that any swap deals have to be amortised over one year.

How do you prove it's a swap deal though? None officially have been between PL clubs so far. What you could do is go back to the old tribunal system and say you paid £19m, but for FFP purposes we'll give you £3m relief

Charlotte being linked with Callum Wilson.

Hasn’t the Villa Everton one gone through yet?
I suppose an easier work around would be to state that players with under X amount of appearances or 1st team minutes have a 100% year one amortisation rule.
Villa

If the player is wanted that badly it wouldn’t stop the buying club from paying the fee.

It's gone through but not as a swap, Villa paid £10m for Dobbin, Everton a bit less than that for Iroegbunam. It's very dodgy, but tbh the PL have brought it on themselves, if it were Wolves I'd applaud it.

Agreed. Good on any clubs who make their anti-competetive rules look stupid.

You will be singing from a different hymn sheet when you want to buy a player on the fringes of a first team and the price has been grossly inflated because his agent knows a shit swap deal will get him more money (potentially from both sides of the deal).

Leicester trying to avoid the points deduction

That doesn't stack up though, you'd just sell him, not swap him for a Brighton squad player

Yeah, if a straight swap that’s bizarre.

Though it looks like Chelsea in for him

It’s not going to be a straight swap though is it?

And “swapping him” gets an inflated fee for him which is offset by Moder (but amortised).
