The Transfer Thread 2024/25 - Everything Not Wolves

We should do the same with Brereton-Diaz and Guedes

Vastly overstating player values in 'swaps' got Juventus in huge trouble and Guedes isn't worth £1m.

This lad has looked bloody awful whenever he's played for Villa (even their fans who normally rate all their youth players on the same level as Yamal and Bellingham think he's shite), not sure what Everton are playing at with the tiny amount of money they have.

They are already right in the shit again. And errr, without new owners who exactly is paying Aston Villa?

Same as Chelsea/Villa are possibly doing with Maatsen/Duran.

It's a bit of a wheeze when you consider that Iroegbunam and Dobbin aren't even fringe players in any meaningful sense, they don't play as it stands and won't play at their new clubs as they aren't good enough. Full PSR profit on an Academy product and amortise what is already a smallish fee (by 2024 standards) across 4 or 5 years so you take very little of a hit in return. Once they're in place, send them out on loan presumably and see if they develop, if not then not much lost and you've cleaned up your accounts.

If someone wants to offer us £5m apiece for Joe Hodge and Matt Doherty on a similar basis then please, be our guest.

It's a good plan.

I wonder how the players feel about it though being used like that?

No doubt they'll get a few quid themselves.
If they have contracts they don't have to go anywhere. That being said a big pay rise and signing on fee elsewhere would soften the blow.

Its why the higher end swap deals don't work with players already at big clubs, moving countries etc isn't necessarily something that they want to do.

I suppose if they're in the position those two are currently in, you already don't play and have no realistic future at your current club so you may as well roll the dice and have a fresh start somewhere else, even if you know that the main reason for the move is financial chicanery above your head.

Works even better if you can find two clubs that are geographically close so the player doesn't even have to move house.

Can;t think of anyone we'd want from the shite. ;)

And in a surprising move....have walked away from spending money on a player
But it might be because he has said no to them and yes to Bayern

Yep off to Bayern according to the Athletic.

Chelsea, Everton & Villa playing a dangerous game. Paying ridiculous inflated fees for academy players to fudge FFP.
