The Transfer Thread 2024/25 - Everything Not Wolves

San Diego have signed semi-regular Wolves link Chucky Lozano.

Chelsea sign Tosin Adarabioyo.

Newcastle trying to sign Trafford from Burnley

Bayern back in for Palhinha

£28m seems to be cheap (in football as it is now terms).

What's his contract situation at Flum?

I think he signed a new one after the January move to Bayern fell through

Ages to run, 2028

He is 29 next month though so his value is only going one way if they don't sell him this year.

Branthwaite to MUFC ...just what they need to bring more chaos to their defence.

Everton's 22-year-old Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana says he would like to play for an "international world club" having been linked with Arsenal... sure, and I'd like to have been friendly with Farrah Fawcett, Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith in their heydays and a little daliance with Charlize Theron today would be fantastic.

Don't get it at all. Seems very weak as a goalkeeper, Kompany lost patience with him and now Burnley are cutting their losses.

I think he will be ok in a few years time. Victim of his own success with the England U21's with regards to what people expected from him and suffered as Kompany refused to drop him until the final run in, due to his stubborn belief in his process.

Might have been better staying in the Championship but I guess no guarantee he will start under the new manager so might as well be a back up/cup keeper in the PL

The reality is that if you play in front of a shit defence, you will be more exposed... and blamed.

Ray Clemence probably stole 50 England caps from Shilton simply because he played for Liverpool.

Clemence was a fantastic keeper, his positioning was brilliant so he had to make fewer spectacular saves than Shilton. He was far better at saving penalties too, though most keepers were!

Other than for Bolton against us, Shilton was crap in all the games I remember seeing him in.

Admittedly that wasn't many, but 1990 World Cup? Urgh..the Maradona hand ball too, what the fuck.

Also, he saved as many penalties as he did score goals.... - One

He was past his best after he left Forest in 82. By 86 he wasn't International class, but his challengers were a young Chris Woods and a meh Gary Bailey. If Southall had been English then Shilton wouldn't have got a game after about 83. By 90 he was washed up, Woods, Martyn and Seaman were all better by then. Definitely Bobby Robson's blind spot. Plus he's an arsehole of a human being

He was brilliant vs Cameroon in Italia 90, saved the scoreline from getting out of hand.

Clemence was very good, as was Shilton. I sort of felt a bit sorry for Joe Corrigan stuck behind them in the pecking order. He was MILES better than Gary Bailey.

Tony Coton was a fantastic uncapped keeper. Overlooked first of all as he had a bit of a naughty past when he was young and with that infamous 80s Birmingham squad, and later on Peter Swales (who doubled up as an FA blazer as well as owning Man City) persuaded Graham Taylor not to pick him as if he did, City owed Watford another £350k or so.
