Few times I saw him last year you could see he had talent but didn't look anything like ready for top level football, very much a kid in a man's game at that point. On that basis the money offered seems insane, seems a much bigger gamble from Newcastle's point of view that he turns out to be worth that fee than Chelsea hoping he doesn't prove to be a lost star.

MGW had proven he was far too good for the Championship though. So although the fee was probably a lot could see why it has got to that point

Agree with Mark’s assessment. He’ll be a good buy in the end not sure he’ll produce consistently this year though
