Any reason Bolton being relegated hasn't been mentioned by anybody yet?
Yes - it's got its own thread.

Have a great time - been to Chicago once, it was awesome - easily my favourite american city so far.
Last weekend has made me extremely happy. Went to a gig on Friday night, then onto a house party, left there at 8 am, called in sick to work, then me and my mate went to the park with some beers, met 2 honeys from Sweden, ended up hangin out with them all weekend and giving them our VIP tour of Dublin. Was really a brilliant weekend, action packed and fun filled all the way til they left on Monday morning! They sent us both lovely messages on Facebook saying how it was their best weekend ever and that Dublin delivered more than they ever imagined!
I have the same problem-- far more dirt than I need. It's bad when half of the board is OD/dist/fuzz. You guitarists have it a little better than we do when it comes to dialing in a little grit straight from the amp. Mine has 4 separate channels (pretty rare for bass) but I never find myself using anything but the tube-pre side with boosted mids, so goes to show you how much tone variety I really call for anyways.
The freeze I've actually not played with yet. I think the first one I bought was defective; have yet to see if the issue is resolved with the replacement. My favorite pedal is probably the purple envelope filter. Great for whacked out funk sounds, and I have what's called a "hot-hand" attachment for it. Basically I control the depth and tempo of the filter with my hand movement when the hot-hand is attached. The goal was to use the Mr. Freeze to hold the note from the bass while manipulating the sound with my hands during certain breaks in the song. I thought it would be a fun bit for the crowd.
Most of those pedals I don't actually use in a band situation-- I'm more of a fan of sounds more than a user. I do use the chorus, envelope, and flanger pretty often though. My band is only a 3-piece rock band so there's a lot of open sonic space. Using the octave/flange helps fill in the bits during a guitar solo, etc. Then again, we've been on hiatus and haven't practiced much since I finished the board-- maybe I'll find a way to work some in!
You're right though-- I could get really creative with my setup given the right situation.
Glad I stuck to the end, holy crap that was funny.
I like the idea of an envelope filter, but can't help thinking it would dictate the sound a bit too much and become a bit too genre-specific. Plus I'd be worried that everything would start sounding like softcore pornography! I'm intrigued by the "hot hand" attachment though.
I want to try running my wah through an envelope filter. Should make some fairly extreme sounds, especially with the level of dirt I get (although all I run is my marshall with a Boss Metal Zone for the dirt after my guv'nor sadly died). I am sorely tempted by the Home Brew Electronics Doomsday Device for dirt now, but I reckon that is going to be £250+ and that is too rich for my blood.
That's an expensive shop mate. Waitrose was it?A 112 checkout has made me very happy this week.
Finding all them pictures would take up alot of your time TGD.
