The Race to be Relegated with Wolves, 24/25 Thread

Worst thing about the Ipswich result is they seem to have found a good keeper from under our noses for no more than half what we paid for Johnstone

Only saw part of the second half but Palmer seemed to be having the game of his life, Premier League debut at the age of 28 too I think

I don't think Albion would have sold him to us and he's not as good as Walton who they already own (but is injured).

Roger Johnstone is a disaster, to be clear.

I agree.

I know I’ve said it before, and I’m actually boring myself, but I just can’t believe how bad Johnstone is. He’s absolute fucking gash.

Still the only keeper I’ve seen in years that actually dives with two hands.

Two handed dives. Like Superman.

They've scrapped hard today but against a team with no striker, and they've shown precious little quality of their own. We have a go at Hwang and Guedes for being inexplicably shit at times for Premier League players but they have Decordova-Reid and Ayew, miles worse.
Can’t stand ayew. No real reason just think he’s an appalling footballer

Listening to the Ipswich fans getting all giddy about their chances after drawing with Villa, apparently they will probably stay up now they have Palmer in goal and Delap up front. One mentioned us and people talking about our squad but mentioned the fixtures coming up being the same as those we started the season with.

Failed to mention that we have a different (much better) manager now and also, we are just coming out of those fixtures that mirror the start of the season!

Personally think it's still 50/50 whether we go down. Just takes a few spawned results either way. There's no doubt we're better equipped to play and fight our way out of it under Pereira than we were with Gary.

Absolutely, anything could happen and there's a long way to go. I just found this chap a bit ill informed as were the presenters who agreed with him!

Agree - and I think our new defenders will have a massive part to play. I have no doubts that we'd have gone down if we hadn't have strengthened in January.

Agbadou looks like a good signing and I'm hoping Djiga is integrated soon.

Definitely more confident now than I was under O'Neil but there's still a lot of work to do.

I think it’s evident that pound for pound we’re better than Ipswich and Leicester.
Nevertheless with only 12 games left we’ve been left at the mercy of a couple of bits of bad luck sending us down.
As I’ve said if it happens it’ll firmly due to leaving GON and his gang in charge far to long.

We are definitely better than the other three sides - no doubt for me.

What worries me, though, is that Ipswich always look like they can nick an unexpected result.

This season, we don’t. In the games we’re nailed on to lose, we usually do…..today epitomises it……decent performance - zero points.

Tbf, Ipswich this season against the current top 6:

Liverpool: L 0-2 (H), L 1-4 (A)
Arsenal: L 0-1 (A)
Nottm Forest: L 0-1 (A)
Man City: L 0-6 (H), L 1-4 (A)
Bournemouth: L 1-2 (H)
Chelsea: W 2-0 (H)

Only two points better off than us with our solitary draw away at Forest.

In the interests of balance… Brighton away.

If we stay up by one point that will be the luckiest of all of them.

To be fair we’re running out of nailed on defeat games.

Right, fair.

Maybe it’s that recent Chelsea result, swaying me.

They could be fielding the best XI in world football and I’ll still refuse to believe a trip to Bournemouth is a nailed on defeat. My subbuteo set up in 1987 was a more credible football venue

Also worth considering that Ipswich have won 3 out of 25 games.

Are they really going to win say, 5 of the last 13, realistically?

I know we shouldn't be shopping in this TKMaxx bargain basement for a variety of reasons, but I think as admirable a fist as they're making of it given that some of their players were up against Forest Green less than two years ago, they're not going to do it.
