The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2017/18

Lambert should have done better with what he had at Wolves in my view :-

Ikeme

Coady Baath Stearman Doherty

Price/Evans Saiss

Marshall Cavaliero Costa
Bod/Dicko

Not a brilliant team but that forward line with Saiss behind should have done more.

He was doing fine with what he had. Seemed to have us playing decent attacking football then we hit that run and he lost it trying to get the wins back. Thankfully he stopped the rot but in doing so he turned us into something horrible to watch

There were a few times where the forward line clicked and we put a really good attacking performance in, Fulham away springs to mind.

It was his own bloody fault. Had a really good January, only blighted by losing at Norwich which was down to an iffy penalty and Ikeme getting himself sent off. So first game in February...decides to change it around and play Edwards at number 10. We lost. Then carried on losing.

The top bods from Fosun came over for the Bristol City game in April, we were 3 down just after half time, from that point onwards he was a dead man walking. He did an adequate job with some notable high points, however he was a meh appointment for a bottom half Championship club over a year ago, so at a level higher a year later it's a bit bizarre. He'll tighten them up, but whether he can throw goals in as well I'm not so sure.

If we'd lost at Brentford (and we were within three minutes of doing so) then he'd have gone then.

I did like the game where he dropped Doc for Saville....and played Saville as a LWB (Rotherham at home?).
Jackett moved Saville to LB away at Rotherham too (only because of a sending off though). First game of last season. In front of Mendes, the Benfica President and the Chuckle Brothers no less.

Pardew, Carvahal and Lambert all appointed in the season and probably all going to be relegated. Some great appointments there from short sighted CEO's and owners.

Barnet have appointed Graham Westley as their head coach, not sure whether Mark McGhee has been sacked or moved into another position in the club.

Urgh, Westley. One of the worst characters in British football. He's actually more dislikeable than Saunders. Better manager though (not by much, but by enough)

The official Barnet statement was made by 'Mark McGhee, Head of Technical'

Lambert will keep Stoke up Simply because there are 3 worse teams and their squad isn’t that bad.

Maybe, I keep changing my mind. I think Swansea will go as they're pretty awful (cue them beating us on Wednesday) and Carvalhal isn't a very good manager. Albion desperately need some actual footballers, quickly, and then hope Pardew goes on one of his fluky winning streaks. Huddersfield are looking very poor at the moment.

The thing is, you could go and ask 1,000 football fans now who the better manager is, Mark Hughes or Paul Lambert. Unless you asked a disproportionate number of QPR fans then I doubt Lambo would get 50 votes.

Yep but sometimes it literally just needs a change of man. If the manager pisses off the wrong players which ruins morale, it might mean he’s only getting 95% out of the team.

Or a manager gets too arrogant or is just stubborn, they won’t change their mind on players or tactics.

Hughes had clearly run his course at Stoke but it seems silly to have no one lined up for when he finally went and then to get Lambert on a multi year deal is bizarre.

Swansea I think are hopeless with Carvalhal. As for the other two, I just can't escape the feeling that both Brighton and Huddersfield will fuck up royally and squander their bits of good form.
