I guess Lambert's sob stories to his journo mates has done the trick.

Blame the foreign owners, apparently.I can kind of see why he would impress at interview. If he's got a clean slate and he's not directly contradicting something that he himself said mere days ago, he can talk the talk to an extent.
But how do you get past the fact that he's done bugger all since 2012?
It's the gift that keeps giving,I'll nip back over later for a laugh

It is but just a sobering thought, we once appointed Dean Saunders and Walter Zenga and I imagine reading those threads may well be the same.
I don't agree with the level of criticism thrown at Lambert on Twitter - he really wasn't THAT bad for us. Some fucking awful dross, sure (Blackburn last season is a game I shall never forget despite it being so utterly unforgettable - worst game I have ever seen live), but he did have to work with some crap. As we've seen this season, some of that 'crap' can be recycled into fully functioning high quality Championship footballers but still - we had so much deadwood. And whilst he didn't have to shoehorn Edwards into every side and completely fail to get anything out of Saiss, we did see some good stuff such as the Stoke and Liverpool games. And we beat Villa of course. He'd get a 5/10 overall for me.
But that aside, what I fail to understand is how on earth he's managed to land a job in the top flight. I'd understand if Sheffield Wednesday or Forest had appointed him but it makes no sense that Stoke have (except he's their 4th choice and they're running out of time to get someone in during the transfer window).
He's going to have to revert to slogging out low scoring games and shutting up shop whilst enjoying fuck all possession due to Stoke's position in the table. It'll be a relegation battle, but not an exciting one.
Everton had no need to go for someone who more or less purely deals in grim relegation battles these days. As it is they're now playing that brand of football where you aim for a 0-0 first, hardly having a shot and they're back on a shit run. I think they'll end up getting rid of him at the end of the season, it was a needlessly cautious (and stupidly expensive) appointment.
Their fans already hate him and with good cause.
Did you see his interview with MOTD after the Spurs game? Says they may have to become "more boring" to keep things tight and get results. Didn't think he could make his 'brand of football' even more dull.
Giggs on Wales job: "I am so proud to have been given the honour of managing the national team. The challenges we have ahead with the Nations League and qualification for Euro 2020 excite me a great deal."
Yes, agreed with all that.
A lot of people keep bringing up the fact that he played Saville at LB - they do realise this is because Doherty was absolutely abysmal at the time (even by his normal standards as an orthodox full back) and we didn't have anyone else save for Borthwick-Jackson, with whom there's clearly some kind of issue as he's done nothing at Leeds? And Saville didn't even let us down particularly in the handful of games he played there - which was either two or three, I forget now.
I had a much bigger problem with him playing Edwards for 90 minutes every single fucking week. Or playing Weimann out wide.
I did like the game where he dropped Doc for Saville....and played Saville as a LWB (Rotherham at home?).
I try not to think of the Rotherham game. But yes, he did (sort of anyway, as we couldn't make our minds up whether we were playing two or three centre halves...which led to Rotherham having two one-on-one chances right down the middle of the park with a 40 yard gap between Williamson and Hause).
