The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2017/18

Out of work for 18 months since leaving Russian side Rubén Kazan, that's not going to end well or be long term is it?

Michael O'Neill turns down the Scotland job

Bernd Hollerbach (insert your own Gwen Stefani joke here) in at HSV to replace Markus Gisdol.

16 and a bit years since I moved to Hamburg. Excluding interims and caretakers, this is their 16th manager in that time.

Looking at the table this could be finally their season to take the drop Dan

Let's be honest, they should have gone at least three or four times in the last decade. But they never learn from their mistakes. Eventually it will catch up with you. It's a mix of staggering complacency and incomprehensibly poor decisions, over and over again.

It is still a shame though. HSV is a fucking massive club. And with the way Germany is, we are talking probably an equivalent of say Spurs going down. It should never happen

If relegation gives them the shake they desperately require, then it needn't be a disaster, notwithstanding that there are no excuses for continually finding themselves in that predicament. The second tier can be unforgiving though. Big culture shock as well for established teams.

Unlike when Stuttgart went down a couple of years ago with a squad that should never really have been relegated, at this point I would not necessarily make HSV favourites to go straight back up. It would very much depend on recruitment because there's so little there of any real worth, and that has not been a strong point for a long time.

Nürnberg have been stuck down there now since 2014 and Kaiserslautern have been there since 2012 - and are now odds on to drop into 3.Liga.

Franchise FC appoint Dan Micciche as head coach (with Keith Millen as assistant). I can't stand that club but it's a very interesting and exciting appointment.

Dan was only recently sacked by the FA, having done a lot of good work at u16s level but is also given a lot of credit for the talent that came through at MK Dons when he ran their academy. However, he's meant to be a bit of a maverick of a coach so I imagine it will either go terribly or amazingly.

And now Chris Powell in at Southend, which I think is actually a pretty good appointment. That said, as I've seen Dan point out, can they do it on a cold night in Bradford.

Christiansen gone from Leeds

Who do they think they are going through managers at the rate they are? Forest?

If Warnock puts 4 past you at home you deserve to go really

Sounds like he resigned rather than kicked out

Time for him to finally take Jose's advice* and get back in the bloody game.

*Obviously a conversation that DOL dreamed or imagined

Have they got enough 'young' players for him to bang on about though?

Not sure any manager that has lost 6 on the bounce or 8/10 can have too many complaints.

What the fucking H'eckingbottom apparently going to Leeds?
Didnt i just hear he signed a new contract up Barnsley?
