The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2017/18

Be interesting to see who they’ll bring in, can’t see them being able take any Championship managers doing well.

Fans want Koeman (E&S stylee though so treat that like you would Wolves fans wanted Coyle)

Please. Please. Please.

Albion STH in my office certainly wants Koeman

This is a very tricky appointment for them. They need someone who is going to make them solid and grind them out of relegation issues....oh wait

Seriously though, whoever comes in will benefit from the good defensive practices pulis drilled into them

The squad isn't that bad. If you play actual full backs at full back rather than clogging centre halves, drop one of the DMs (the awful Livermore would be prime candidate), get Chadli/Burke in the team and actually bother attacking rather than timewasting in the first 10 minutes, they should be ok. There are definitely three worse squads at least.

Pulis is just a stain on football. They don't need to play the way they have been playing. No-one does.

I would say if they get this appointment wrong they could be in deep shit.

They were going down under him. 2 wins in 22, one away win in 2017 and he was still using the same terrible tactics every single game. If they make a change and it doesn't work out, they're no worse off really, unless they give the new guy a load of money and he wastes it.

Foster

Nyom Evans Hegazi Gibbs

Livermore Krychowiak

Chadli Rodriguez Burke

Rondon

That's a quality team with the right manager.

I’d fuck Livermore off for Barry, Livermore is rancid.

I'd say it needs some work - Hegazi is rank bad and Livermore isn't much better, while J-Rod is totally gone. Although you could just play McAuley/Dawson, Barry/Yacob and Phillips (him wide right, Chadli at #10) to replace those three. Then you can look at bringing 2-3 more in during the window.

No way do they have a bottom three squad, Pulis has dumbed down expectations and sold it as if this is the only way he can try to get results with what he's got. I saw him before the Leicester game banging on about the quality of their bench and how much they'd spent, as if he's been operating with a budget of 10p. He's spent loads.

12 points and 13 goals from 21 games, I'd genuinely expect Mick or Lambert to do a fair bit better than that.

I completely agree but the amount of people who say 'he would have kept them up' is ridiculous. He was taking them down, he had completely lost the fans and was playing mind numbingly bad football as well as getting shite results. Sorry, but you can't just bring up 'historical evidence' to let him off the hook for fucking up the job.

The problem they have for me is that a complete change of style Mid season is really tough - going from pulisball to someone trying to play possession based football is a massive change for the players.

The thing is, the likes of Evans, Gibbs, Barry, Krychowiak and Chadli have all played for massive clubs who invariably dominate possession. It shouldn't be too hard for them, the squad isn't made up of total cloggers.

Granted you wouldn't really associate Craig Dawson, Jake Livermore and Hal Robson-Kanu with silky skills and one touch football but they should be ok if they appoint someone competent.

Having said earlier I think they'd go fat Sam,I now think lambert stands a chance,he's got a point to prove about his management style, and it's local rivals so he could feel smug about premier league football with them, and all the bellends the express and star would find moaning about lambert and the Albion when he should still be here etc would be amusing for us on here

Allardyce would be two fingers to the fans, I doubt they'll go down that route, although he must have worked under Williams at Blackburn.

He did, replaced Ince.

I'm sure John Williams is a fine chap and all that but he's 77 years old, I can't think of many other clubs who've ever had someone like that running the football side of things. He handed Pulis a new deal not six months ago, I think they all just assumed things would tick over for a while.

Montella sacked by Milan.
