The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2015/16

I think that's a quality pairing at this level. Irvine is much more suited to coaching than management and Lambert had Norwich playing some lovely stuff when they got promoted.

Not much he'll be able to do unless they get their embargo lifted.

Talk growing that Steve Clarke is going to take the Fulham job.

He's another one I wouldn't mind down here.

What he wants and the reality of him finding employment after more than seven years of actively shunning anything and everything are two different things.

I don't know why any club would touch Curbishley any more. He's been out of the game too long.

The only club he'll manage is a club in London in the PL needing a manager who want him. So basically no one available, the arrogance he shows is unbelievable by thinking second tier football is now beneath him.

It's hardly unbelievable, it's what most people would do in his situation.

Say you've managed to stick away enough cash to retire early, you still like what you do but you decide to jack it in and have some time to yourself, would you jump back into work for any job that was offered? Or would you be picky, only want something that was going to be enjoyable and convenient?

Curbishley can easily afford to sit at home doing fuck all, aside from the odd bit of media work, he might still love the game but it's not like he's desperately throwing job applications around trying to get back involved is it? But if something turned up on his doorstep looking like a good opportunity then no doubt he'd reconsider his quasi-retirement.

He pretends to be interested which is what jars. Of course in our case we should never have a) approached him on footballing grounds or b) been stupid enough to believe that he would actually come.

I think most people have seen through him now, he rarely even gets mentioned for jobs these days. He's been linked with the Fulham job but only because he was there as a consultant in the first place. His expression of interest extended to him saying "I wouldn't rule it out", he almost certainly isn't interested really. On a monetary level I can't say I blame him, he still gets a steady stream of income from SSN/BeIN Sports for providing the blandest, least insightful comments imaginable anyway and West Ham had to pay him off in full when he left as it was proven that they sold players above his head which breached his contract. He isn't an especially relevant person in footballing terms now though.

It comes across very arrogant which is unbelievable, a lot of managers also say that the game is an addiction and hard to leave. It highlights that he's not as passionate about the game as others are.
It would also be a concern if he took over at your club if his attitude was very give or take.

I dont think curbishley will manage at top level again..he has been out for too long, and despite that he has some conditions to go with that..he can fuck off :)

Waiting for the right job is arrogant now then?

Just because someone likes football doesn't mean they should get all giddy about any offer that comes their way, so he doesn't want to travel far from London, that's his choice, perhaps he's not interesting in managing outside the top flight, again his choice. Nothing wrong with people just waiting for an opportunity that they like the look of.

If, as Dan says, he's leading people on about how interested he is then that's just needless stupidity but to say someone is arrogant for not being interested in any particular job is nonsense. If you're in a position, financially, where you can afford to be picky about what jobs you pursue then fairplay, be as picky as you like.

Curbishley has every right to turn down jobs he doesn't want.

I could just about see him managing Charlton or QPR.

If he really is interested at managing a team again he should choose that..he isnt gonna get a job at man u for example..so, limited choiceS and probably satisfied with tv salary

Hasselbaink looking increasingly likely to take over at QPR

I wouldn't blame him for taking it. It's a huge club in this league with a good squad and he will probably have a reasonable budget to work with if players like Phillips and Austin are sold. Which is likely sooner rather than later.

OH Dear, Rafa has to be the next big name on here. A pal of mine who went to the game says Real would rather have been in the Tapas bar, and frankly couldn't give a toss.(he's a die hard Sevilla fan by the way)
