The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2015/16

Probably, fan and former player. I don't know where his English move would be without it looking like a bit of a humiliation for him...maybe Newcastle?

I could see him at Newcastle.

I wouldn't bet against Villa sacking Garde before the end of the season either, Quality manager but a truly woeful squad. Moyes & Villa always seemed like a good fit to me.

McClaren has got to be getting close to the brink. He's only just about outperforming John Carver with an extra £40m or so wanged on the squad. I suppose he runs contrary to my 'consecutive failures damage you' theory! Shite at England, Wolfsburg, Twente (second time) and Forest, didn't achieve his aims at Derby in the end, still got a PL job. He is the exception though and he's also being shown up for what he is. I never feel that players respect him as a manager, he's obviously a decent coach but he has no authority.

Villa is a good fit. I could only see him going there if they are already doomed though and the relegation isn't pinned to him. I'll laugh heartily when they go down, but by August I'll know they will piss the Championship

Aston Villa really are in a terrible mess. They probably need a minimum of 32 more points to stay up. That is already well over a point a game. Lose to Watford, and even this early in the season, they will look in big trouble. And in my opinion it is pointless for them to change managers again before the end of the season. They have made too many managerial changes recently, and none of them have turned them around. They need stability.

The thing is Lambert got given far too much time (given his returns and his football) and most people would have said Sherwood was no long term answer. It's the end result of bad decision making overall - remember, McLeish and Houllier were the two managers before that, both obviously awful appointments from day one for different reasons - rather than just relentless sackings that has led them here. Their summer business will probably be what buries them, trusting Jordan Ayew, Rudy Gestede and a finished Gabby Agbonlahor to deliver the goods at that level would have been like us playing Keogh, Maierhofer and Iwelumo as our only strikers in 09/10. And apologies to Andy Keogh there, that's a harsh comparison on him, Ayew the Lesser is terrible.

A very vociferous and unequivocal vote of confidence as well.

Regarding Villa - I don't think they will need as many as another 32 points. It has all the hallmarks of a low points total to survive season. Maybe a 33 point total would be enough.

Trouble is, the form they are in suggests they are going to struggle to get more than 25 points in total. If they don't beat Watford I would say they are almost doomed already.

You wonder why they went for Rafa when Klopp was available. Nonsensical really.

Perez listening to his golf buddies Rush and Souness?

Djimi Traore telling him that if he can make him a CL winner, he can do anything.

That line should keep Rafa employed until he departs this planet

Gary Rowett is apparently odds on favourite to take over at Fulham

Gary Rowett is apparently odds on favourite to take over at Fulham

Although Blues said yesterday they hadn't received any notification of any interest in Rowett from other clubs.

I wouldn't expect Richard Stearman to last long under Rowett and could see him bombed out on a cut price January fee.
Fulham for the play offs with Rowett in charge, they have some exceptional talent that requires leadership and organisation.

Rowetts' done a good job so will be linked to every available championship post - whether there any truth in any of them is a different matter

qpr are apparently choosing between Chris Powell, Hasselbaink & Rowett.

Tony Humes sacked by Colchester

The club are saying he was not sacked, but he left due to the amount of abuse leveled at him. The Colchester chairman said that had hoped that Humes would not leave, but the abuse was unacceptable.
