Gary Neville to Valencia.

This surprises me. I would have had him at Wolves in a heartbeat.

Fair to say Valencia are a slightly bigger club.

Peter Lim owns Valencia and owns a share of Salford City so there's the tie up.

Spanish newspapers spoke yesterday of Frank Rijkaard turning down advances from Valencia, so it seems Neville was not the first name on their short list.

Taking control as Head Coach until the end of the season. So right now, not a long term appointment.

Interesting to see how he does.

I didn't think that he would go into club management at all. I had a suspicion that he would get the England gig once Roy moves on.

Obviously got a clause in his Sky contract saying he can manage if approached.

All the ex-players have that if they are contracted by Sky. Remember Andy Gray when he was close to leaving Sky to become a manager

Mendes runs Valencia essentially. Farce of a club at the moment. Tough gig to walk into.

And rather stupid for me. Could well end up being a Shearer and ruin his stock almost immediately.

Well yeah, I thought he was happy to tell everyone where they were fucking up rather than having to put it into practise, Alan Hansen made a decent living doing it after he retired.

Surprised at the appointment of Neville, too. He has a young family, is settled where he is - has a fantastic job at Sky as a lead (and their best) pundit, along with the position with England.

Fair play if he wants to get in to management, just a bit surprised it's at Valencia!

SSN going slightly over the top with their coverage!

and Jamie Carragher wins the Internet for today

Jamie Carragher ‏@Carra23
Gutted! This reminds me of when Pegguy Arphexad left for Coventry.

So if Gary Neville does well at Valencia does he and the class of 92 take over at Man Utd next season, or do they leave Paul Scholes alone pouring scorn at the lot of them.
