The sad truth is that I think most football fans don't care who owns their club as long as they're successful.

Clubs don't generally go from shite to brilliant overnight when they get taken over.

There are nearly three months until the transfer window opens and Newcastle's squad is dreadful. Even if they got rid of the worst manager in the league (which should be the very first thing they do), no-one is doing that much with those players and the upcoming fixtures.

Then you look at historical precedents. Our first year under Fosun was no good, we got managerial appointments wrong, the signings were very hit and miss, we looked like going down to League One at one point. Man City spent their first year or so with Hughes as manager, signing the likes of Bridge, Adebayor and Robinho at stupid cost with limited success (think they finished 9th or something). Chelsea were already in the Champions League when Abramovich took over, wasn't like they were no hopers. They were already a successful team.

FFP is still a factor, even if our club like to lie about it for reasons best known to themselves. Can't just go out and spend £400m overnight.

They'll have more on field success than they have had under Ashley and presumably won't have an owner who holds the fans and club in sheer contempt, but it'll take a long time and there will be limits as to how far they can go.

It took Manchester City four years to really get going and they started from a stronger base as their squad had improved a bit under Thaksin. But they also threw a lot of money at mediocre players so it took a while for traction to be secured. And they had less to worry about regarding FFP.

However, this lot are worth £320 billion. It will work eventually, probably in about six or seven years if they progress. You can have all the money in the world but you simply aren’t getting Mbappe and Haaland pitching up at a club with no champions league. That will be the key, the season they progress enough to be back in Europe.

Once it does work, and it will, the top three spots will be tied up by Newcastle, City and Chelsea. Klopp isn’t going to be at Liverpool forever, and United even with their large incomes are going to struggle to compete. That’s going to be your top five every season.

That leaves Spurs, Leicester, Arsenal, Everton, West Ham and maybe ourselves and Villa fighting for possibly a Europa League or conference league spot.

As a plus point, I don’t think Bruce will last the week if it goes through.

Yep big worry for the likes of Spurs and Arsenal only advantage they’ll have on players is location.
Expect Newcastle to spend enough in January to stay up and then gradually progress.
One thing is for sure their fans are going to be unbearable with sense of self entitlement.
