Jonjo Shelvey given a 5 match ban by FA for racial abuse to Romain Saiss

Blimey. That is a pretty serious suspension so there must have been something pretty bad in there.

£100k fine and must attend an FA educational course also

My thoughts exactly. My only concern is that it has taken so long for the punishment to be announced.

I'm guessing on a matter like this it isn't a simple case of review video evidence and job done. Serious accusation that needs proper investigation and then give the player a chance to defend himself and then deal with it.

As I expected, Jamie Vardy has lost his appeal against his red card at Stoke.

Wasn't ever going to be overturned as it was a matter of opinion, therefore the ref was always going to be supported

He was pushed, dragged his feet in to avoid dangerous play.. Clearly tried to avoid contact.. Verdict FA is corrupted and clearly tries to take pressure off the ref who got rojos tackle wrong.. Barkley should have been sent off against Liverpool btw

Barkleys tackle was disgraceful, and he should have been sent off, but that had no bearing on the Vardy appeal. Personally I think Vardy was a little unlucky to be sent off, but there was little chance of it being overturned.

it has been many overturned red cards this season, many worse than this and I think FA is trying to protect the ref in this case

Well done to Brighton after their game was called off last night

Food which had already been prepared for sale at the Amex tonight is being delivered to a hostel for the homeless in central Brighton

Their 4-0 home win over Cefn Druids on Boxing Day saw them draw level with Ajax Amsterdam's record set in 1972.

And last night they won again to break the record.
