Summer 2021 transfer window

Because everything is front loaded to next year, and we expect to sell someone then.

We can't at the moment because the market is shite and we wouldn't get proper value. Plus one of our biggest assets is injured for ages so no-one will buy him, limiting our options.

Don't think anyone was calling you a WUM for saying Fosun want a break-even approach, that's literally a fact. I think it was more that you were insisting on the value of Ruben Neves when you can't have watched him even 10% as much as people on here have. I wouldn't think to tell you how much say, Harvey Barnes is worth, what would I know.

Fair enough.

I wasn't actually commenting on how much Neves was worth though....Not compared to his ability anyway.
I thought given he was the clubs biggest asset, he would be worth a lot more to Wolves, than what the press and some of your fans were saying he was worth.

It's clear now though, that our clubs operate differently.

Wonder if Sanches is going to be another Ruben Dias...

What the press put on a player's head is just nonsense though, isn't it.

The Sun can say Ruben Neves is a £40m target for Man Utd all they like, but it doesn't make it true. No more so than Klopp being desperate to pay £80m+ for Adama a couple of years ago.

Looking forward to Luke Cundle stepping up and starting games in the PL when any of our central midfielders get crocked/suspended at the same time.

And Joao Cancelo, Danny Olmo, Tielamens...

Any more? Probably.

I suppose the opposite of this is Locadia
I don't buy the Tielemans one at all. None of the timing stacks up, it smacks of someone at the club trying to say "look, it was all Nuno's fault".

Stories like that appear for a reason.

We had a deal for Abraham too and he didn't want to come. Obviously I'm gutted by that.

I consider Dan a friend. I don't know you from a Word document. So, no, I'll be sticking with him on this one.

EDIT: Not that Dan needs some flaming American standing up for him, of course.

It's family squabbles. Everyone on here has something worthwhile to say at some point, and there's more that unites us than divides us. We all love or at least follow Wolves. It's just been a tense few months...

We would say the three biggest assets, assuming they were all fit, are Neto, Traore and Neves. We have Trincao front loaded that we need to make permanent next summer and I am sure we would do the same with Sanches if an agreement were possible. That suggests one of the three will be cashed next summer.

Saying that, everything points to an absolute boatload more wiggle room than the club are suggesting, even to break even.

If the squad stays the same at 11pm, with the frankly obscene ticket price that they dropped on fans who have been financially pressed in the pandemic, then I really feel a lot of goodwill will have been flushed down the shitter and serious questions should be asked.

There are still some hours to go to prevent that. I will look at where we are at come eleven. I’m not feeling overly hopeful though. Recruitment does seem rather shambolic, and that is being kind.

Of course...
But there were also people on here, suggesting £40 million was fair value for him.
You're entitled to think that, if you want....Personally I think he should be worth more than that to the club.
His value is obviously what Fosun decides it to be.

I just find it strange, that Fosun's words, don't seem to match up with their actions.

Yeah, I don’t see any point getting my knickers in a twist at 17:30 either, I’m not feeling particularly impressed/hopeful though I have to say. I’ll keep my powder dry till the window actually closes.

Relying on pulling rabbits out of the hat in the last few hours..

You'd have thought that parting company with Nuno months ago and knowing what direction we want to go in next, we'd have had some solid transfer plans to effect a change to the first XI. Disappointing if we're essentially just looking at Trincao and a couple of fringe players

Anyone who believes club fluff 100% literally deserves everything they get, to be honest. As I said the other day, what are they meant to say? "Well yeah, we'll probably be about 12th this season, hope that's ok". It's 4-5 year old quotes being made to use a stupid argument. Occam's Razor says they're an investment firm and unless they're a particularly rubbish investment firm, they were never going to endlessly pour money in.

Neves was never going for £40m this summer. Not to say someone couldn't have had him if they wanted. It helps us a lot that he doesn't really want to move, bless him.

Ain't that the truth! Hopefully after today it'll calm down for a couple of weeks..
