Summer 2021 transfer window

If it helps Jinks, I don't think I've ever laughed at anything you've said :D

I haven't got a problem with disagreement. Being snide for months, repeatedly referring obliquely to "prominent posters" and not having the nerve to actually name them, generally being unable to discuss anything remotely civilly unless you agree with them 100%, and all when I have far more investment in the club than they do...I've got a problem with that. I mean I also have a problem that he seems to equate the best manager we've had in 40 years with the likes of Saunders and Hoddle, but I guess opinions are opinions, as nonsensical as they can be.

So he can ignore me if he likes, but if he carries on then he can have it back doublefold, I've had enough. I wouldn't have it in real life and I'm not having it on here.
Absolute nonsense from start to finish.

I think Dan is the one being abusive, uncivil and unreasonable here, maybe you should telling him to lay off?
I consider Dan a friend. I don't know you from a Word document. So, no, I'll be sticking with him on this one.

EDIT: Not that Dan needs some flaming American standing up for him, of course.

And before anyone brings up Villa, what they did was spend money in advance because they knew they were selling their biggest asset. We aren't selling our biggest asset.

I repeat - I'm not going on a Comical Ali defence of the club here. We need to sign a couple of players at least.

To be fair, clubs can arrange deals for players at any time.

Plenty of deals are agreed outside of the windows.....
Sanches's club Lille, have already proved that this window.

Well, quite. Villa knew that Grealish was going to leave (and conveniently knew what the fee would be too) so they could budget for all that. Fair play, although we'll see how they go, it's been a mixed bag of results so far from a generous early batch of fixtures.

Unless we knew we were selling Adama for £50m (let's say) then we couldn't do that.

The owners want the club to operate on a roughly break-even basis. They don't want to invest any more, although that might change if we end up in a relegation fight (I don't think we will, but you never know). Fine, anyone is free to criticise that approach, but that's where we are.

Hence without major outgoings we simply weren't going to throw a load of money at the squad this summer, let alone panic and do it today.

So as it stands:

Sa, Ruddy

Rayan, Hoever, Marcal, Saiss, Kilman, Boly, Coady, Yerson, Semedo

Neves, Mouts, Donk

Podence, Trincao, Adama, Hwang, Silva, Jimenez

20 players. Jonny & Neto not likely to be seen until the last few months of the season/next season.

Pathetic squad size. And the numbers in midfield. Christ.

I came to this conclusion the other day, and was called a 'Wum' because of it......
Interesting that others are coming to this same conclusion.

If this was true though.
How would they have afforded Sanches? Why did they bother bidding?

Because everything is front loaded to next year, and we expect to sell someone then.

We can't at the moment because the market is shite and we wouldn't get proper value. Plus one of our biggest assets is injured for ages so no-one will buy him, limiting our options.

Don't think anyone was calling you a WUM for saying Fosun want a break-even approach, that's literally a fact. I think it was more that you were insisting on the value of Ruben Neves when you can't have watched him even 10% as much as people on here have. I wouldn't think to tell you how much say, Harvey Barnes is worth, what would I know.

Moriba has gone to RB Leipzig for 16m euros.

We're leaning heavily on Kilman continuing to surpass expectations and a kid from Colombia who nobody had heard of.

The Sanches thing looks like we arranged the loan, with everything in place, then Lille decided they didn't want to sell. Fosun will put money out, but it's based on outgoings done now and in the near future. We (supposedly) are still under UEFA FFP sanctions where we have to break even for 3 years or pay a big penalty, although i'm not conviced we are still under that cloud...
Edit: Beaten to it by DW.

The only part of this I’m going to respond to is the part about you investing more than me. I live an 8 hour round trip away from the stadium, I have a family and I have been saving for new house. I would dearly love to have the capability to have a season ticket and the financial ability to travel every other week to watch the team I have supported for 40 years. I can’t, and the fact that you want to use that against me in your argument says more about what kind of man you are than it says anything about me. If I’d been a single man, living alone for years, a short distance Im pretty sure I’d just as easily match your ‘investment’.

Fuck off with that nonsense, man.

You don't know anything about me (plenty of people on here do) and that's now how many times I've said to keep it zipped if you can't be civil. Evidently you can't so don't respond to me again.

Horrible piece of work.

We’re not even breaking even. With no incomings we’re making a massive profit. We’re making a massive profit even with €40m of incomings.

They aren’t spending the money because they don’t see the target(s) as value. So that’s either fishing in the wrong pond or being incredibly naive.
