Summer 2021 transfer window

Half the fan base would still swallow whatever bullshit they put out there
I'm not sure. People have been very patient in general, I know there are some virgins replying to every tweet the club put out but most have accepted we were going to do deals late in the window

That shouldn't really be accepted, other clubs have managed to do plenty of business. We showed that those at the top went into the summer with this do deals late attitude with Matt Wild in the Ask Wolves videos.

We did do business early, though- I was impressed at us getting Sa, Mosquera, Trincao and Ait-Nouri all signed, sealed and sorted early.

And then we stopped.

Sa was a necessary neplacement for Patricio, RAN a loan made permanent, Mosquera was a punt, granted he looked good in pre season but will still be raw. Trincao is the only player that's impacted the 11 and nobody would have been happy with that at the start of this thread with 6 days of the window to go.

They may make some impressive signings but they need 3-4 players in the next 6 days and that before outgoings.

Only three teams have signed more players than us I think?

Arsenal - 5 in
Villa - 5 in
Brentford - 6 in
Brighton - 4 in (1 due to be announced as well)
Burnley - 3 in
Chelsea - 2 in
Palace - 6 in
Everton - 3 in
Leeds - 5 in
Leicester - 4 in
Liverpool - 1 in
Man City - 2 in
Man Utd - 3 in
Newcastle - 3 in
Norwich - 9 in
Southampton - 6 in
Spurs - 3 in
Watford - 12 in
West Ham - 5 in
Wolves - 4 in

So pretty much the same as most clubs really. Now the list the numbers are from above have our business down as 6 really but thats because it includes Moulden and Bolla, so no clue on players signed by other clubs that are U23 players or sent out on loan.
West Ham for example, their 5 inc 1 loan turned permanent (Dawson) and they have signed a keeper on loan and the others are Thierry Nevers, Pierre Ekwah Elimby and Armstrong Oko-Flex - Never heard of them. Should be signing Zouma this week though.
We can break ours down and pick apart what we have and haven't done but I am sure we can go through most of the teams above and say the haven't replaced people or not had enough to the squad.

Fair to say, a lot of clubs are going to be busy this week. I would expect most clubs bar Villa to try and sign players this week. I know it's the in thing to be down on us but we are pretty much like most clubs in the Prem right now.

Why are Spurs trying to sign Adama with a view to paying for him next summer? I know Levy tried to furlough everyone but surely they are not that skint.

If at the close of play next Tuesday, Bruno is left with the current squad or less then its unacceptable. If the right players are found, it doesn't matter if it's the first day or the last day for me just as long as they are signed.

So nearly half the league have signed more players. And like I said in a previous post 1 was a signing to replace our first choice keeper we sold and one was making a loan signing permanent, so we have made 2 (at best) signings that impact the first team squad and one of those is now injured anyway.

I don't deny that some business might be pushed back because of the Euros, however we set our stall out by mentioning that in the ask wolves videos. Some people might not think it matters but while I think it's ok for fans and media to speculate that transfers will be done later because of it I don't think it's very professional for the top people at the club to have that mindset let alone come out and say it. - others have shown it up to be bollocks anyway.

Disagree on the last part about it doesn't matter when they arrive. Long term it's about getting the right player but ideally you want them in as early as possible so that they don't miss 4 games of the season and have some form of preparation with their team mates and working in the system.

How many of those have been for the fust team? Any idea?

The total numbers inc kids they have all signed. Ours is 6 when listed like that. I don't have enough knowledge on those players to count them in the same way as I did Moulden and Bolla. I include those and we are joint 3rd in that list

Burnley's number is 2 in reality - A defender and a keeper to replace one they sent out on loan
West Ham's is really 1 (if we are discounting loans to permanent) and that is a reserve keeper on loan
Arsenal have spent £125m and their squad has not been improved really

On the last part, just how the window works. 2 years the window closed the day before the season started to try and avoid that but managers didn't like it.
this window is an odd one as more and more transfer are being held up because of clubs trying to make room to bring in players. Roma's move for Rui for example couldn't happen until they sold a keeper, we signed a keeper & Olympiakos signed a keeper. Any of those 3 deals fell thrugh, Rui stays put. Chelsea for example want to sign Kounde (I think) from Sevilla but can't until Zouma leaves and he if doesn't leave before the end of this week, Sevilla won't be selling.

In other news west ham seem to be after zouma, I wonder if our interest in Diop was genuine

Comparing to other clubs is not really my thing as if West Ham sign 0 players between now and next Tuesday it won't make me feel any better about the situation if we don't get the players we need. If we do compare though and use everyone's recent favourite team to compare to - Leicester got Bertrand, Vesteegaard, Soumare and Daka in early and now will not be scrambling around int the last 6 days and find themselves in a position where they only need to dip into the market if they find something at really good value.
