Summer 2021 transfer window

I really hope we dont fucking sell Traore in the last week of the window..and 40m is too low for me

By and large Leicester aren't trying to do it by buying teenagers though. That's the flaw for me, not the selling a top player for top money and reinvesting back in the team element.

Oh absolutely, I agree that is potentially the vital flaw. Jota shouldn't have been replaced with Fabio Silva.

Also Leicester have invested a lot in their recruitment team and have good football people at the top of the club and in their recruitment department.

Nothing we have done in the last 3 years suggests that we can have any success with that model.

It could all be conjecture-y mudslinging by the club, but if we are identifying players like Tielemans, Hwang Hee-chan and Olmo but they fell because the manager didn't want them, then our recruitment isn't *that* bad. As I said, it could just be mudslinging though.

I think Leon is right and the club feels very 'Leicester Claude Puel' at the moment. Plenty of promise but just a bit... stagnant.

Sure there are.
He's a good, top half, PL midfielder....He's not one of the greats of his generation.

Tonight there was Rice+Soucek and Ndidi+Tielemans on the pitch for the sides which finished 5th and 6th last season.
They seemed to find players of the same ability, if not arguably better, than Neves, without much bother.
Maybe I've got rose tinted glasses on because I love Neves so much, but I'd rather have him than any of those 4 players you mention.

I think he's alot better than our tactics of the last couple of years have allowed him to show and he's capable of excelling in any top sides in the world, not just ones that are finishing 5th and 6th.

...and they tend to have the player already at the club before letting others go.

As much as I didn't want Jota to go at least you could say that Neto was already here as a replacement. Who the hell is going to play if Traore or Neves leave?

I imagine that was the thinking when Jota went: Neto was already the next up and coming, and Podence to some extent if he wasn't made of biscuits.

I wouldn't sell Traore or Neves this late on - there just isn't enough time to get replacements in and clubs will know why we're buying so will hike the prices up.

If the Tielemans, Hwang etc thing is true then it's even more poor for someone from the club to leak that to deflect when they havent even got their own house in order.

I'd be wary of the who we could have got arguments. We wouldn't have been the only clubs in for these players and every club has similar stories of who they nearly signed.

It's all very Moxey and comes across as tinpot 'look at what you could've won'.

The majority of that article Percy put out before pre-Spurs game feels like it did come from in the club, so I absolutely agree. It was the line "it was a team effort, not just Nuno" that stunk a bit to me. I understand where they were coming from, but it didn't need saying.

Rice looks top class to me. I can guarantee if he was available for the sums being touted for Neves - £40mish - there’d be clubs falling over themselves to sign him. Assuming he stays I think Neves will flourish with more progressive tactics and will kick on massively this season and could be as influenctial as Rice is for West Ham but that’s conjecture rather than fact which is probably why he’s still our player.

I've got no issue with buying teenagers, as long as it's not done exclusively. I can't see the point from a sporting point of view of developing a player to a point where they are good enough for a big club to come calling, to then cash in and replace them with another one who isn't quite good enough for a few years, we'll just stand still.

If Fabio is what he is for the next 2 years and then scores 20 in his last season and ends up going for £60m, I don't want us to get the "next Fabio" and wait another 3/4 years for them to be sold again.

I'm no expert on other clubs, I don't pay much attention really, but from what I can tell Leicester use the money they get in to increase the quality of their squad, not just spend it prospects who might be good in a few years. I really hope all this is made moot in the next few days and we buy a few really good 25-29 year olds who can slot straight into the team, that's what I think the squad needs, not some more talented kids.

I really like Rice as well, but if you offered me Rice as a swap for Neves there's no way I'm taking it.

I think the difference with Leicester is their team is made up a good balance of young and experienced. So the likes of Barnes and Fofana can flourish as they have the experienced professionals around them which counter-balances their mistakes. Silva is clearly a top quality player for a 19-year old, but he shouldn't be leading a Premier League attack on his own, and - once again - he was put into a formation that didn't necessarily suit him, he's not a lone striker who can hold up play and that's what we expected him to play as.

From the Gruniad...

Back in England, Leicester could be about to complicate matters for Spurs by joining the race for Adama Traoré. But who’s to say Traoré wouldn’t turn down all those clubs if Wolves buy Kieffer Moore for him to cross to?

Conveniently forgetting we already got one of the best strikers in the league for him to cross to.

Leicester have bought a load of pups along the way, don't buy the narrative.

How much did Ward, Benkovic, Silva, Iborra, Praet, Musa, Kapustka, Ghezzal, Slimani and Perez cost between them? Two of those have never even played a league game for them. Iheanacho was shite for years as well before hitting a good patch last season.

I'm not as ANGRY as some regarding the way the club is being run atm but if Traore is let go for any less than 45million in a big bag of cash on Jeff's desk, I'll certainly start to question wtf is going on.
While we're all anxious to see players incoming, I'm at least as worried about losing Neves and Traore at this stage of the window

You can probably add Gray into that mix as well.
