By and large Leicester aren't trying to do it by buying teenagers though. That's the flaw for me, not the selling a top player for top money and reinvesting back in the team element.
Also Leicester have invested a lot in their recruitment team and have good football people at the top of the club and in their recruitment department.
Nothing we have done in the last 3 years suggests that we can have any success with that model.
Maybe I've got rose tinted glasses on because I love Neves so much, but I'd rather have him than any of those 4 players you mention.Sure there are.
He's a good, top half, PL midfielder....He's not one of the greats of his generation.
Tonight there was Rice+Soucek and Ndidi+Tielemans on the pitch for the sides which finished 5th and 6th last season.
They seemed to find players of the same ability, if not arguably better, than Neves, without much bother.

...and they tend to have the player already at the club before letting others go.
As much as I didn't want Jota to go at least you could say that Neto was already here as a replacement. Who the hell is going to play if Traore or Neves leave?
If the Tielemans, Hwang etc thing is true then it's even more poor for someone from the club to leak that to deflect when they havent even got their own house in order.Oh absolutely, I agree that is potentially the vital flaw. Jota shouldn't have been replaced with Fabio Silva.
It could all be conjecture-y mudslinging by the club, but if we are identifying players like Tielemans, Hwang Hee-chan and Olmo but they fell because the manager didn't want them, then our recruitment isn't *that* bad. As I said, it could just be mudslinging though.
I think Leon is right and the club feels very 'Leicester Claude Puel' at the moment. Plenty of promise but just a bit... stagnant.

It's all very Moxey and comes across as tinpot 'look at what you could've won'.I'd be wary of the who we could have got arguments. We wouldn't have been the only clubs in for these players and every club has similar stories of who they nearly signed.

Rice looks top class to me. I can guarantee if he was available for the sums being touted for Neves - £40mish - there’d be clubs falling over themselves to sign him. Assuming he stays I think Neves will flourish with more progressive tactics and will kick on massively this season and could be as influenctial as Rice is for West Ham but that’s conjecture rather than fact which is probably why he’s still our player.Maybe I've got rose tinted glasses on because I love Neves so much, but I'd rather have him than any of those 4 players you mention.
I think he's alot better than our tactics of the last couple of years have allowed him to show and he's capable of excelling in any top sides in the world, not just ones that are finishing 5th and 6th.
I really like Rice as well, but if you offered me Rice as a swap for Neves there's no way I'm taking it.Rice looks top class to me. Conveniently forgetting we already got one of the best strikers in the league for him to cross to.From the Gruniad...
Back in England, Leicester could be about to complicate matters for Spurs by joining the race for Adama Traoré. But who’s to say Traoré wouldn’t turn down all those clubs if Wolves buy Kieffer Moore for him to cross to?
Leicester have bought a load of pups along the way, don't buy the narrative.
How much did Ward, Benkovic, Silva, Iborra, Praet, Musa, Kapustka, Ghezzal, Slimani and Perez cost between them? Two of those have never even played a league game for them. Iheanacho was shite for years as well before hitting a good patch last season.
That will trigger an alarm in Sweden...You can probably add Gray into that mix as well.
