Summer 2021 transfer window

Well that was a waste of my time then, I only did it because you said "other clubs have managed to do plenty of business"

I could have spent that 10 mins doing something productive...what I don't know as I haven't done anything like that for 15 years
Maybe poorly worded on my part but I'd say my example shows what having good people in the recruitment department with a clear plan can achieve. If there are other clubs that are just as ill prepared or worse, it won't make me feel any better come next week.

I was just arguing with some dork on the whole UEFA settlement, and re-read the ruling again. The period has already finished, so there's definitely no excuse now?

"a maximum break-even deficit of €30m (£27.1m) in the financial year ending in 2020 and to finally reach, in the 2021/22 season, an aggregate break-even result for the financial years ending in 2019, 2020 and 2021".

My point was more we are in the same boat as the majority of clubs right now To sign a player it seems a whole row of deals have to be sorted across numerous clubs. Only really a couple who are doing things differently (ignoring the clubs who can spend £100m on a player of course).
If come next Wednesday morning we sit where we are now or weakened, then yep we employ a bag of fucking idiots and doing the same as a Burnley or West Ham means nothing.

We clearly had a plan and strategy early doors though - Vinagre was only allowed to leave once RAN was secured, Rui was only allowed to leave once Sa was sorted and that swap of keepers was clearly done with the new incoming tactics in mind.

It ends next year with UEFA doesn't it? We still have to send over numbers from this financial year which won't happen until early next year. Which will be the one that includes the money we couldn't last time around because of Covid and why we didn't hit the target for the last financial year

It's up to the financial year end of 2021, which for us is May 31st. The figures will be released this season, but any spend now will be in a different accounting period

Fair enough. Thought our year ended later.
Interesting to see them and then have an adult explain them to me!

It all depends on accounting reference dates, which are mostly pretty uniform across the Premier League clubs because you want the accounts to ideally reflect one whole season rather than half of one and half of the next.

They're not going to be outside of our own financial years, surely? Particularly not to effectively end after a transfer window before the season *after* the period in which they're concerned with?

That's a horrible sentence, but I think it works

Versus last season and ignoring injuries we have 3 in Sa, Mosquera and Trincao and 4 out Patricio, Otasowie, Jose and Vitinha. Our small squad is actually smaller
don't think you can include Jose, who was a january signing to cover for Jiminez missing the season.

Every company has an accounting ref date and then a set number of months to submit from that point. Limited Companies have a different length of time from PLCs which is why Manchester United used to be out of kilter years ago.

In theory all you is pass a board resolution to change the ARD which both Newcastle and Everton have done in the last couple of seasons to put themselves in line with other teams. I think they both had 14 month accounting years.

Valencia have signed Marcos Andre....might mean they have a forward going spare now

So 2 comments from Bruno

1) Neto setback confirmed (refused to talk about it last week) but says Nov/Dec for him now. Not February as reported.
2) Expects Traore to stay at Wolves.

I still think Traore goes to Spurs, he wants to go and they’ll end up offering enough on the final day of the window. Hopefully we’ve got someone in by then at least

I think you’re overestimating our valuation. Over £40m will be seen as good business by us given his contract situation and the fact we bought for 18m. Hopefully I’m wrong!

He’ll stay. If Spiers to be believed he was going to sign the contract and of last year and then Nuno went.

Spurs won’t pay enough and we will get the contract done. Looks a better player already and I’m sure he will prefer to stay under Lage given the style of play
