Summer 2021 transfer window

Given that we've spent the summer resolutely failing to get the CBs and CMs that we're apparently after, my confidence in the club spiriting up an Adama replacement in the span of a week is just about at rock bottom.

It'll be Guedes.

If you are going to sell your biggest assets, either do it at the start of pre season so that replacements have time to be bought in and have a pre season with the squad or borrow what you can and do the business prior to any sale.

If it’s a loan or permanent the club will see it as £40m in the bank and we’ll spend it regardless.

Bruno may dig his heels in but it’s risky if he won’t sign a new contract.

Not really, in the grand scheme of things he's got ages left, and "having 12 months left" has nothing like as much as impact as it used to 10-15 years ago.

We've just picked up a fee for Mir that's way higher than we had any right to get given his ability and record, and he could have spoken to any Spanish club to negotiate a free transfer in January. Southampton just got £30m for Ings who is way older than Adama with a bad injury record in the past.

If we didn't/don't have money to spend so far in the transfer window what makes you think that a promise of money over the next few years will make a difference? If it is to happen then you'll need selling clubs to agree to similar deals which makes the possibility of signings failing to get over the line more of a possibility.

It made a difference when we sold Jota.

We did but at that stage I don't think anyone was talking about how cash strapped we seem to be. The way that deal was structured last summer gave me the impression that cashflow wasn't a problem.

Totally different noises coming from the club and those close to it now.

Always said Adama will be off this Summer or January if he doesn't sign a new deal. If Spurs want him and he wants them then he'll make it happen and we won't take the depreciation of another 12 months off his contract.

2 things seem strange on that though 1) Why spend a pre season trying to perfect a formation that is based around getting the best out of him, if you intend to flog him? 2) Why would Nuno want him? Another manager I understand would think If only I could get him to do x,y,z Surprised someone who has already tried and at best been only semi successful would want to try it again.

Yesterday was the most Adama of Adama days, I can see where both sides of the argument are coming from.

I don’t think we are cash strapped, we just got into Europe too early and got done by FFP as a result, so we need to err on the side of caution for now.
