Summer 2021 transfer window

No one has managed to do that Jinks and it isn’t like Adama is 19 or 20. He is what he is and I think we’d be mad to turn down that money for him as his end product in front of goal is just not there. 2 goals in 41 games is a performance stat to his ability in front of goal.

I really wish we could get him to score but I’d swap him for Bergwjin in a heartbeat.
I don't disagree, mate. I don't think Bruno is going to wave a magic wand and suddenly Adama turns in to a 20 goal a season player - but I'm talking more his overall game. I've been encouraged by his movement off the ball and runs in behind in the first couple of games this season. His big chance where he went through against Leicester and the one yesterday - both lovely movement off the ball - something we aren't used to seeing Adama do. Maybe the penny has finally dropped?

Just ignoring his finishing for now - I think his overall game looks to have improved already under Bruno, and that is exciting. Plus (and I know this is a separate point entirely), but I don't have faith or trust Jeff & co to source suitable replacements *if* we sold him.

I want to keep Neves AND Adama. Having Neves higher up the field and knocking those balls in behind to Adama is a combination no team will want to face (but I do understand your point).

Jota is a tough little bastard, he could keep and turn with the ball - Trincao is getting pushed around too much at the moment. Thought he was better second half though.

Would like to see what Podence could do in that position, if he ever gets fit.

I'm sorry, selling Adama in the last week of the window would be absolute lunacy, short of some ridiculous, £80 million fee. There's absolutely no prospect of us even beginning to replace him before the end of the window, and all we'd have accomplished is selling our most exciting player.

Adama can be wasteful but this 'he doesn't deliver' narrative conveniently ignores the fact that he actually holds the record for top Wolves PL assists in a season.

As Bruno said himself, if he delivered regularly he wouldn’t be playing for Wolves. We all know it.

I honestly just don’t see what we have to gain from selling him. This style seems to play very much into his favour with the runs he makes off the ball and positions he finds himself in, so logic would dictate it’s only a matter of time before the goals/assists start coming, and if that happens he’ll attract a better team than Spurs in the summer and we can ask for an outrageous fee.

What kind of warped logic is that?

He has 2 in 41 Sam. That's about as big an indicator of performance there ever is. Couple that with the two games you've seen with your own eyes this year and tell me again that Adama is going to be Salah levels of scoring soon.

I didn’t say he would be Salah levels of scoring, I said with the positions he’s now finding himself in - admittedly after two games - he will start getting goals and assists. I haven’t seen him take up those positions frequently in the previous eighteen months.

He still scares the opposition to death at times, we have no one else that can do that. The only way so many can stop him is to plonk him on his arse resulting in set pieces, which we rarely take advantage of, and cards. Too big an asset to offload imo.

Alisdair Gold reckons Spurs very keen to sign Adama

Not overly sure why he'd want to go back to running to the byline and chipping it to the back post for the next five years.

I expect he'll be gone though - Simon Stone is reporting the same.

Ah yes, moving on one of our assets on loan so we don't get any £ to reinvest when we're already working on a sell to buy basis sounds really fucking sensible.

I have to imagine the loan to buy talk is an ambition from Spurs rather than anything we'd actually agreed to, because Christ alive, just imagine.

No doubt they'll say Trincao is his replacement.

We'll have to play 3-4-1-2 at this rate.

Christ we are fucked if we don’t sign a replacement immediately
This is the bit that concerns me. If we replace Adama with Guedes I’ll be fucking annoyed.

Replace him with Bergwjin and that’s a different proposition. Get a Breel Embolo (this is not a rumour, just a player I like who can play wide and up front) as well and I’d be a very happy man.
