Summer 2021 transfer window

Possible. I Thought they had an “option” to buy him after the loan. Maybe they had an option which they couldn’t really take up after relegation but could have bought him and then resold him Afobe style.

But that way may have seen them make less than €4m and Wolves would then miss out as well. So maybe they negotiated something that meant we could have him back and sell him for a decent fee but still give them the cash for not screwing us over.

This idea that Fosun somehow under estimated how much it would cost to make Wolves a top six side. It makes no sense. It’s not exactly a secret how much Man City had to throw at it to get in there…..or how much the others have to spend on transfer fees and in particular wages to stay up there.

Maybe two 7th places finishes gave them false hope?

Nah, it's much better to not sell him and let him sign a pre-contract in January so he can leave for nothing

I see Valencia are trying to sign forward Marcos Andre from Valladolid. Covering the expected departure of Guedes no doubt (he is playing tonight for Valencia)

I'm not sure why you are being so deliberately obtuse?

I thought this was about right as a deal the other day, with this news that we're getting quite a bit less cash in the coffers, it's disappointing, isn't it?

Not as disappointing as letting him go for nowt.

I guess we needed to make the loan deal sweet for Huesca and this is the result of that.

As probably one of our first players to be bought with the aim of making a profit on our investment, and it actually working, I don't think I'm at all disappointed.

I hope we can do this kind of thing more often.

Making a few quid on Mir and the likes of Sarkic is smart business, but it's not going to be the fuel needed to build a top half PL team
It all helps though, and it's better than not doing it.

Hopefully some of the academy kids start to show value, Giles for example, if he doesn't end up in our first team will make a few quid, as will Sanderson.

Thats just peanuts though

Again it's good business practice, but it's how you add to your income not the driver. Financially we've swapped Mir for someone who at the moment the manager sees as his second choice left back, probably 3rd if Jonny is fit. That's not saying we shouldn't have sold Mir, we should have, but it's not a game changer. Neither will Sanderson or Giles. For the model to work RAN needs to go on and be a £30m+ player as does Hoever, Fabio needs to be £50m+. Basically it's flawed as you'll probably hit on 1 in 3 on average (appreciate that's 2 different arguments)

Rafa Mir is 24, Giles and Sanderson are 21.

At 21 Rafa Mir was playing in the Spanish second division
So is that a guarantee like they develop like Mir or in the dumps like Zeli Ismail? I mean Sheff Utd clearly need Sanderson, so pay for him then and not just a bag of chips..if he was at a bigger club more donuts

Yep, he's not very good. Awkward, often out of position and technically average.

Reminds me a lot of Danny Batth.

Said it here before but Phillips showed you why Klopp is such a good coach, initially he looked an utter mess but Klopp just kept tweaking, covering and lowering what he was being asked to do until he was looking competent in their system.

Absolutely agree with you, I think Klopp is a genius.

Really?
Huesca will receive 25% of the sale of Rafa Mir. They will receive €4m from Wolves as the deal with Sevilla is reportedly €12m fixed + €4m variable.

If the fee was questionable to some before that piece of information became available, this certainly won’t help.
Who negotiated that crock?
