I suppose they think he's an upgrade on Struijk but I'm not convinced he actually is.

Or, perish the thought, they see him as a squad option. The kind of approach a team might want to take if they want to become an established PL side.

Versatile back up at worst. I haven’t seen much of that Bornauw but when I have he’s shite. Can’t underestimate the need to bring in some kind of quality if there are injuries. Like the Saiss example. He was never first choice in the PL but ended up playing a lot of games. You’d rather be doing that than having to bring in Santi Bueno and Toti Gomes.
