Summer 2021 transfer window

Yeah Kane had multiple loans that didn't all go to plan, at 18 he was playing in league one (did OK). You wouldn't have said at that point he was going to be worth anywhere near £35m. He was a late developer too. As I say, there isn't one path.
You wouldn’t have paid £35m for him at 18 though.

It doesn't mean he won't eventually justify the fee either. I'm less fussed about the money regardless, but the focus now is on his development. If we need to be patient with that I'm comfortable with that, personally.

Kane didn't cost £35m and wasn't touted as a generational talent tbf.

I'm still optimistic that Fabio will come good, but I've got to admit that given he's not quick, big or skillful, that I'd have thought his reputation was based on excellent movement and natural, clinical finishing - and there's no evidence of the latter yet.

If we was a couple of million from Coventry, then it would be easier to look at his performance and say that it's not fair on him to be playing yet, and that he's here for the future and not for the now. I know the fee's not his fault, and I believe he's not ready and that it's bordering on unfair on him that he's being asked to lead the line on his own against Premier League footballers.

But I do have sympathy with those that can't see the potential in him, to be honest. Other than movement and the ocassional good touch and pass, he's looked very much like an 18 year old that has barely played senior football at all - not like a 'generational talent'.

Star quality, awareness, skill and Keane had that in spades.
Keane was an excellent player no doubt. I do think Fabio's biggest attribute right now is his awareness / anticipation, he's got a decent touch too

Hence why WJ was signed in January...
I agree, but not everyone is on the same page regarding WJ or even whether we need a buffer between Raul and Fabio. I've seen people state they'll be happy with Fab as back up when next season starts so he gets his 'minutes'

I'm all for Fab's development, but not at the expense of Wolves development

I think the generational talent was a stupid thing to have him labelled.

MBappe, Ronaldo, Rashford, Foden and Haaland are generational talents. Fabio isn't even on the same planet as any of those players at 18 and he's nowhere near worth £35m.

Haaland cost £7m from Molde to Salzburg at 17 and moved from Salzburg to Dortmund for £18m. Fabio is nowhere near worth the money the club paid and it was stupid business however you look at it.

Well as I said. If the fee was more appropriate then this discussion doesn’t happen.

Relying on Raul getting back to his best almost instantly and Fabio going through three years of development in six months is a pretty optimistic plan. Next plan please
You missed my ninja edit.

What's your plan for this? How much would you be willing to spend etc

Not sure about WJ yet (we're so dysfunctional atm none of our players look much cop), he could be an option. I don't know how much we have to spend either, but if we can spend over £60m on Fab and Nelson we can't be that hard up.

Like many others a player who can do a job up front and wide would be ideal but I don't imagine they're plentiful or cheap and I wouldn't necessarily trust the team that scouted Cutrone, Vallejo, Semedo or Fab 100% either

Personally, given how far away Fab looks from being any kind of PL striker and the uncertainty around Raul, I'd be happy with just a Jose style player tbh, as much as others consider that a 'waste'

The only similar between Kane and Fabio is their ability to fall theatrically at the slightest touch. And even in that respect Kane is better.

Fabio has had a good chance to shine and not done so. WJ has had less than a month. Give him another month of starts and see what his contribution is. Then you can start thinking and planning for the future with or without him based on the evidence, drive and desire he shows. He has shown some nice touches and link up so far without looking potentially dangerous. I would go 4123 for the rest of the season . Traore WJ Neto top three with Neves and Vitinha behind and Otasowie DM.

But was he at 18 though?! Kane's game has improved immeasurably including his diving and I'll take a wild guess that he didn't harangue referees so much when he was 18 either.

I think Fab is at least 2-3 years away from being "the man" if he indeed gets there. I think there is an option for us to look at someone who is 22/23/24 maybe a bit cheaper because they aren't quite done yet and let them fill the gap between Raul and Fabio. Now we might end up with the new bod sitting on the bench and getting a bit grumpy if Raul is back to perfect health and form so it's a bit of a risk.

I think one thing we could is recall Rafa Mir, he's done alright in Spain and would cost us nowt

Rafa Mir, another one we signed young and was rubbish and a waste of money according to some of our fans, now seems to be scoring often, who'd have thought young kids moving to a foreign country having language issues and not knowing anyone would have problems eh?

Mir is 24 this year, so was 2/3 years older when joined? I never really saw him at the time as obviously harder to watch in Championship, and I never went to any games he played in. Not sure what was the consensus was on here at the time? Take your point though, he'll have a solid career I think but not anything to take us on an extra level.

Mir was way more physically mature when he joined. Didn't have Fabio's movement tho.

I saw him away at Barnsley, he looked lost. He was rubbish at Forest, played some games up front and some out wide. Leave him in Spain and get back what we can

He's got 6 in 22 for Huesca, which tbf is a solid return for a team down the bottom. Still a chance to make a profit - we paid £2m for him?
