Summer 2020 Transfer Window (Extended Version)

Listening to his Spurs interview, I think Doc has equally pushed for the move. We move on, I dont think Spurs are getting the player they think they are though

No, I don't know that. Could well be true, but you're really only saying it cos the possibility of it fits your pov. Which is fine. I hope you're right.

I was just trying to correct Wolvensam's sneaky little bit of chronology switching, that's all

Correct it with what? Your point of view?

I also think people are misinterpreting the element about Doc “wanting to go”.

I don’t think for a minute this means he agitated for a move prior to the receipt of an offer. I simply think this means he got told “we have an offer from Spurs which we are inclined to accept, if it’s a move you’d be happy with?”.

Seeing a few reports that Aurier rejected a move to us as part of the deal? Do we think this is reputable?

If true, looks more like a desperate filler than the magical upgrade?

No, as he's an absolute stain of a man and we don't sign people like that.

No... with Jeff Shi's actual statement. Do you not read the posts you reply to?

I missed the bit in Jeff’s statement where he said we don’t have a replacement lined up or didn’t intend to replace him.

I think we may have enquired about players and he was one offered so we took the money instead.

All guess work of course and 99% of reports online are utter bollocks

I really just don't know what you're getting at and I'm not repeating myself again. I think it's pretty clear what I meant, and it has nothing to do with where you're taking it

Yes, wouldn't surprise me if they tried to throw in an element of a swap and we said no. He can't defend

Why are people taking what’s said as absolute literal, it’s a statement which has been released and Jeff has put his name to it

I’ll say it again, imagine the scenes if he’s have said...well me and Nuno discussed how we could push on for a top four place and both agreed that out of the current 11 Doc is probably the shittest so we thought we’d start there
What a way to say thanks to a bloke who’s played for us for 10 years

It’s no surprise to me that when discussing the team Jeff and Nuno have come to the same conclusion as 99% of the wolves fans I know and thought, yeah, Doc is where we will start

And stop the fire sale panicking because of Fosun we’re stripping assets from the club they wouldn’t start with a £15m Irish right wing back would they? We’ve got far bigger assets than him

I wonder how many RBs spurs went for before they got a positive response, reading between the lines suggests they are desperate to get Aurier out the door

You told her she was wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt when it could very well be she was bang on. That's what I'm getting at, do you not read the posts you're responding to?

Other than Banjo being facetious there is not one post mentioning or even alluding to a fire sale on here. There's probably only Fred bothered about him leaving at all. Concerns are around the widely reported fee, that deal been done before a replacement is official and it leaving a small squad even smaller

Do we assume that Dion Sanderson won't now be going out on loan? At least until we sign another RWB

Yep, some proper straw man building there

The fee is an absolute bollocks. Whether the 'easy upgrade' settles immediately and Burr is adequate back up or not, the fee is an absolute bollocks. Absolute. Bollocks.

I'll explain it one last time

In her phrasing she put 'the club wanted to upgrade' first.

The inference (imo) being that it was initially the club's idea. Which kind of fits her perspective, and others, that this is 'all part of the plan'.

That's directly contradicted by the Shi statement, where he says all this was not in the clubs plans until the offer came in. He literally says this

So really, 'Doc wanted to go' should come before 'the club wanted to upgrade'. Language and detail is important.

Is that OK?

Agreed. We have not done well here.

You're just being a bit pedantic mate, if I'm honest - I used to be similar to win arguments online, so it's fine. Whatever the case is we would not have sold him if he was in our plans: I'm sure we've had summer windows where Neves and Jimenez have been enquired about and we have said thanks, but no thanks. Doherty just is not in the big plan, and that is why we sold him.
