Summer 2020 Transfer Window (Extended Version)

I get that people wanted a higher fee, but Jeff's comments put this into perspective.

We know we've tried to buy a RWB before (Cancelo). The bid for Doc was unexpected but they took the opportunity to get a reasonable amount of money for him while we can, and they discussed and agreed that we can replace/upgrade him as previously planned.

If we don't get a decent player in to replace him by the end of the window then they are fair game for criticism. But until then we just have to trust Jeff and Nuno know what they are doing.

Pretty embarrassingly patronising rubbish from both of you.

Wolvensam, I've been on Wolves forums for 25 years so I don't need your pat on the head, thanks
Please look up the word ironic

What is wrong with thinking we didn't get a good price for Doherty?

You can think whatever you like but ultimately it's nothing to do with any of us, nobody here knows any facts, it's all speculation and imagination perceived as fact, some people just perceive it a little more angrier than others :)

May as well shut down the forum then.

Have you got an agreement with the club for a % of the sale, Del? It’s as though you’ve personally missed out on a payday.

The bid is what the club accepted and so the fee is what we could get for him and decided to cash in... that’s about it

Our ptg records make it clear who knows what they're talking about with valuations. I'm happy to do some work with you on zoom to explain how it's done properly

It’s made it harder for us to get a replacement now. We are desperate and everyone will know it, they will raise prices - will Jeff be willing to pay?

That’s where having Mendes on our side will help out.

We won't be just starting our search now though, will we?

Could be a deal already set up and more or less ready to go (equally there might not, I don't know). But we certainly won't be thinking "right, enjoy your Bank Holiday guys, first thing on Tuesday morning start ringing round clubs and find someone to play there".

Someone always has to go first otherwise nothing will ever happen. There'd be an endless loop of "we can't sell him yet because our replacement hasn't arrived".

Being reported that AMN will now stay at Arsenal not that surprised really

Quelle surprise. Dragged our feet, and now been priced out. Same old story.

I was surprised Arsenal we’re willing to let him go in the first place so it’s not a huge shock plus just don’t see us paying £25m for him

Three weeks ago if you'd said to me:

- We're not going to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles
- We're going to sell Matt Doherty
- We're going to sign someone better than Matt Doherty

Then I'd have been absolutely fine with all of that. So there's only element three of the equation that needs filling, and no-one knows where we are with any of that.

It's all quite neurotic at the moment.

If past is prologue, we’re either going to spend weeks more trying to entice a player who doesn’t want to come, or are currently panicking because we’ve put all of our chips on a bet that hasn’t come off. Hope it’s the latter, but neither’s great.

Not surprising, is it? No positive signs coming out of the club, plenty of negatives, and we’re a fortnight from the season starting. Worry is a perfectly reasonable reaction.

I think it's being reported that AMN could stay with Arsenal. Well, he could also move to Wolves. But as everyone says, we need some good news.

It's mountains out of molehills at this stage. But then again it always is.

Even before all this happened people were setting the bar ludicrously high for what they wanted us to do in the market and saying they'd be disappointed if the club didn't match their ambitions. Fine then, you'll be disappointed.

Doesn't seem like people derive a great deal of enjoyment from following Wolves at the moment, personally if I felt that way at a point where we have the best team that we've had in 40, maybe even 50 years, I'd probably find something else to do.

I don't think people set the bar too high. We all know Nuno likes a small squad but - especially with his comments after Sevilla - it wasn't unreasonable to expect 2-3 new signings that would improve the first team. Since then we've taken another two steps backwards - plus MGW out on loan

Personally, I'm absolutely made up about Conor Coady's England call up. I know it's not transfer news and I know we would all like some incoming transfer news (yes, even me!) but that's good news.

I also echo DW's last paragraph in the above post.

But they weren't asking for 2-3. They were asking for five. All first teamers.

Never going to happen.
