Summer 2020 Transfer Window (Extended Version)

So, to sum up if I am panicking about our current situation and/or the fee for Doc I am doing the right thing and equally the wrong thing and if I am cool and confident in the process being put forward by Jeff and Nuno and I am doing the right thing and equally the wrong thing?

Just out of interest, has anyone taken up the middle ground on the subject yet? Hoping that is less crowded than the angry & calm camps
I'm sat in the middle ground, it's nice I have a beer and a hottub to myself so feel free to join.

We're several players short, had a bad week with failing to land AMN and that disaster of an away shirt. Selling Doc for slightly below his perceived value is obviously going to add frustration.

Equally if you'd said to the forum "which three players do we need to upgrade? " there isn't a list that wouldn't have Doc on it.

On a scale of 1 (I have complete faith in Jeff and Jorge to deliver what Nuno wants) to 10 (We're fucked. No money. Jeff is a competition winner) I'm somewhere between 5 and 6 at the moment

Leeds being linked with Rodrigo de Paul from Udinese. Would be a bit of a coup that, would quite happily hijack.

If I was Fosun I be feeling a bit miffed with our fan base right now.

Zero gratitude or faith for getting us where we are

I think this is where most people stand isn't it? It's where I am anyway, just some of the language used by some perhaps gets interpreted as being happy clapper or doom monger when really most are on the same page?

I don't care about people disagreeing with me, that happens literally every single day of my life. It's healthy.

It's shite like this (and as he loosely referenced something I said, obviously getting the context completely wrong along the way, I presume I'm included here):

some of you come across as right cliquey, smug, chin stroking pseuds... totally divorced from how the majority of thousands of football fans think, feel and speak in this country

That's alright, is it? Just because I don't mind us selling Matt fucking Doherty?

Sorry, but no. I'm not a normal football fan now? Go boil your heid son.

I'd hope so. It's been a crap week for Wolves (and the Nuno "rumours" haven't helped). There's time before the season starts but we don't have the luxury of a normal transfer window.

We started with two players too few (Vallejo and Cutrone's positions) we're now looking at 4 spots to fill, Doc and back up for Vinagre.

Welcome to the world of football Fosun. It's savage and you can't revel on past glories.

You really have to carry this on? I think being called a 'fucking chode' is probably worse.

You've already called people with perfectly reasonable concerns 'neurotic' today, as well as basically say people being critical are unhappy and should find something else to do than support Wolves.

It's obviously those things that are the issue, nothing to do with you not minding us selling 'Matt fucking Doherty'.

But then you know that.

Well you don't like being patronised, so you may as well get it straight.

But what do I know, I've only been watching us for 33 seasons. Not a normal fan.

Stop acting like the biggest whopper in Burger King and it might improve a bit

Good Lord, Paddy. I post a jokey comment (have you seen the state of the rest of the thread?) and you single it out and then start with name calling.

I guess some things never change.

Same time as me then.

I didn't say anyone wasn't a normal fan, I spoke about discussing football normally, not the same thing at all.

Having a bit of a moan, wanting improvements even when the team is doing well, coming to vaguely critical conclusions without having 100% of the facts, not feeling like you need to wait till the end of a transfer window before having an opinion on how it's going... These are all normal behaviours, but not on here. On here they're considered aberrations by some.

Look on any forum or Twitter or talk to people in the pub, and you'll see and hear some really negative, entitled and deluded opinions. You never hear anything remotely like that on here, but the bar is so low that even mild criticism freaks some people out.

If that's how the forum has developed, fine, I'm obviously hugely in the minority, and if everyone's happy with it I should shut up, or go back to lurking, or leave.

But it isn't normal.

And if you went round calling people that you didn't really know "chin stroking pseuds" in a pub you'd likely get knocked out, wouldn't you.

I don't care if you disagree with what I think (and I like to think I at least outline why I think what I do, whether you're on the same page or not). But do it properly, eh?

Girls, Girls, you’re all pretty. Can I go home now? (It’s a quote from Megamind, always stuck with me!)

Knock it off will you, it’s beyond dull.

Yeah, this is where I am (the middle ground). I’m far from convinced by Jeff Shi and feel he’s taken on way too much, but time will tell.

Unfortunately there are people on this forum who are unable to look past the name of the poster before they respond. Essentially, that’s why this thread has been taken over by pointless tit for tat arguments, when most of us are on the same page.

It’s perfectly reasonable to be nearer 10 than 1 and given the evidence currently and historically more reasonable than being nearer 1.

But it is also a very fluid situation, it’s not terminal. It can still easily be rectified. The longer time goes on though the harder that becomes.

I think this is the part people take issue with - just because people disagree with you doesn’t mean they are abnormal. Twitter depends on who you follow I guess, from people I see most are slightly disappointed in the fee but not overly bothered about him leaving, assuming he’s replaced.

And if by ‘any forum’ you mean the mix, then perhaps that’s a better place for you to post.
