Summer 2020 Transfer Window (Extended Version)

"I'm an Arsenal player until I'm told otherwise. My heart's in the club, so I'm gonna give 100% while I'm here, and that's that."

Hmm. Fairly standard response from a player when a journo asks about a transfer rumour, I think.

Fingers crossed we can get it over the line. Mad that some people are turning their nose up at him - he’s decent.

Very reliable player I think with room for improvement. 20-25m I would do it.

Yeah was coming to post this, seemed like the demeanour of someone potentially in a discussion elsewhere or considering other options. Don't think getting MOTM in a fairly drab game increases your value, it might encourage other bids potentially from other sides who had been following.

Must admit I was a bit meh but I've not seen him play very much, anyway if Nuno likes him, given his record on improving nearly every player we've bought in, I'll give him a chance

Loads of people were moaning about the amn move when it came out, now he’s played well today, most seem pretty happy with it.

People.

I honestly don't see the point of getting worried/angry/stressed about what may or may not be going on behind the scenes in a football club when there's still plenty of time for things to be resolved.

We have no idea what we've offered, for whom, or when. No idea at all. My view is selling Doherty means it's more likely than not that we've got deals lined up. I'll save any rage/stress/disappointment for the appropriate time - ie not whilst it's still pre-season and the window is still open.

Worst case scenario? Fosun have decided to asset strip the club and we go bust and it was all part of their plan. The point is, none of it is within our control, so why get so vexed about it?

If you want to stress yourself out worrying about what may or may not be going on, and decide to fear the absolute worst, David Icke's got a gathering in Trafalgar Square you might want to join.

Definitely feel that the events of the day have made it significantly less likely that Maitland-Niles signs for us.

Not really. He was MOTM in the FA Cup final too.
The England call up does though imv or at least bumps up the price/competition. At least Coady can get in his ear. Also means it's unlikely to happen this week although players have been released from camp before to sort deals

I can understand people worries, however.....

He is one of 2 players we need to upgrade in the first XI.
We also need to upgrade our bench that will be difficult to do, we need young player to understudy Moutinho, and 1 to understudy Raul.

I am happy with Doc going, would be happier if he went post his upgrade signing

To be fair I don't think Arsenal can say "Chris Sutton said he was Man of the Match so that's an extra £5m please".

He was decent, nothing spectacular today though. I thought Saka and Martinez had better games personally.

He was MOTM in a glorified pre-season friendly and has been called up for a few international friendlies. I would bet it has done naff all to change Arteta's mind on wanting to sell him.

Yeah, football clubs don't change their valuations of players based on 1 game.

Coady will be able to get in his ear next week and extol our virtues.

You'll be told to fook off.

yes the discussion is boring but the easiest way to avoid it is not read it until a player signs.....so 3rd October.
Just in time for my birthday! :xmasbana:

In the process of catching up with todays random speculations and baseless statements. To add to these, heard today that Man Utd made an offer for Doherty last summer. Club pushed it back with Dohertys agreement as we made the Europa league.
The reason he wants to go this time is we're not in the EL (and spurs are obvs).

I have no basis for knowing it to be definite. but passing it on.

Bizarre rumour that Aurier was supposed to be part of the deal for Doc but he's turned us down.

Assuming we have maintained our "No Dickheads" policy then that's nonsense. As he is a lot worse than a dickhead.
