Turning out to be one of the great contract extensions. Give someone who has never looked good enough a three and a half year deal when they aren't even close to being out of contract. Then have them out on loan for two years at a level we never want to play at again.

He can make up for that by relegating them.

Stupid decision based on him putting in half a dozen decent performances at that level and us panicking. Form then reverted to type and bloody predictable as said on here at the time.

Let us hope there's a compulsory purchase clause in the deal somewhere.

Let's be fair here

Gladon - wasn't his target (one of the few transfers he has openly said "not my deal guv'nor")
Coady - He became a useful member of the team last year (when kept away from the position he was purchased for.). £2m these days is nothing in terms of fee's and he hasn't been a disaster and looks like he will still be part of the squad for this season.
Mason - That one made no sense other than he was a forward on a list he had. He wasn't a replacement for Afobe and KJ simply had no idea how to play him. I doubt £3m has been paid for Mason. A lot of that reported fee will be addons that will never be paid out
Sagbo & Holt - Shit but at least they were only loan deals and we could get rid of
Lonergan - We were dealing in a very different market last May and Lonergan was a sign of things to come under the up for sale regime. We had to take what we could. Thankfully he was the 1st and last as Fosun stepped up.

You can chuck in Hause, Evans, Dicko & Afobe as positives and numerous other younger players (Isn't he responsible for the likes of Ronan being at the club?)

I thought Gladon was his. And he does have a good record with younger players, Iorfa, Hause, Evans and Ronan being the successes.

All in all he's got nothing to crow about.

He isn't. He obviously does enough to impress Fosun for now but it won't take much for them to push him out if they feel he is a weak link in the operation.

The site that started that rumour was a Nigerian football rumours site, which I don't think is particularly reputable.

That said, if we are looking to loan a young third- or fourth-choice striker from a PL club, Ugbo is exactly the kind of player to fit the bill.
