Not at all, I'm absolutely delighted about the takeover and that we'll have money to spend.

I don't think spaffing €25m on one player is needed though. We could sign a whole host of good players at this level for that amount.

I'm not sure we could though, without luck (for example Benik) because to get anyone half decent, you have to spend decent money- see Gayle.

I see your point, however is it not better to build a PL team in the championship and not have to spend that much and tear your squad apart to compete in the prem (if we get promoted). Better team building isn't it to have them play together for a year first?

If we can get a good core of those players in then, sure. Perfect and off we go. I think we potentiallly have a few of them already.

Yeah, this was one of my problems with appointing Bruce (apart from him being a worse writer than Jeffrey Archer and having the haircut of a middle aged woman). He's a (much) better version of Dave Jones in the market, if he's in the Championship then he'll just buy Championship players by and large. Then when you do go up, they all need replacing and that money's all dead.

Go out and get the best players you can afford who are willing to join and suitable for how we want to play, we don't have to watch the pennies any more. If you have the quality then you don't have to go muck and nettles in this division, look at Tigana's Fulham or Keegan's Citeh.

I'm with you, Nando. I can't quite get my head round it and do think that if you gave a competent manager - Dyche for example - £20m that's promotion guaranteed. But maybe the aim is to buidl a Premiership team from the word go, and then not rip it apart when we get promoted. I do think that requires a different manager to K Jackett Esq though

I can't make my mind up if we're being naive thinking players are actually choosing us over a club that will be challenging for a place in the CL... or if things really have gone a bit weird, or if the influx of £££££ and new owners really is able to convince PL-quality players we're a good prospect for the next couple of years despite our current division, or ... or ... I dunno. Brain is conflicted, I'm confuzzled, and I don't understand, haha.

Mine is conflicted in the sense that this is a lot to spend on one player, but why spend small amounts on players who may not be good enough for where we are in one-two years' time?

To think, a month ago we were linked to some right dross, and now this!
