I didn't want to publish anything immediately after he went in case there were further developments in bringing a replacement in, but there haven't been so here you go.

As with so many other Wolves forum members, I enjoyed your commentary and analysis immensely. Indeed, yours are the comments I always look forward to reading. Don't always agree but find them thorough, provoactive, and stimulating. Herzlichen Danken, mein Freund!

yes, nice article. 'arrivederci' always reminds me of an episode of Sgt Bilko when he got the motor pool to use spare parts to make a sports car which he called the 'arrivederci'. Walter was a bit like Sgt Bilko to me.

Anyone else footballingly fatigued by all this manager business once again?
Originally it was all quite exciting but im already getting sick of "he said this and he said this" and "im hearing its going to be him"..blah blah blah.
Think ill stay off here and twitter until someone has actually been unveiled.

Perfectly natural that there would be tension if 10 players turn up in rapid succession. If I were Price, Wallace, Saville or Evans, I would be well pissed off I couldnt get a look in because of Prince, Saiss or Tex.

In my opinion, only Costa, and to a lesser extent Bodvarson, have really added to what we had before. And Costa is only on loan.

Now that the Italian experiment is over, the old guard might get a better look in, especially in midfield.

It also might just be that Rob Edwards is only two straight wins from getting the job.

Saiss is our best midfielder by a country mile, completely different league to Saville and co.

Cheers DW. Very fair article that's spot on.
Maybe he knew after the Leeds result that he'd be given the boot, that's why he shook hands with each player?

Now we await Fosun's new appointment with bated breath and crossed fingers, hoping they get it right.

Yep, if someone came in to do my job and I still got paid , I'd moan like a bitch :)

Only joking !

The same old guard who have been so mediocre and such a let down time and again? Fuck them. Personally I'm sick of hearing them bleating the same old drivel time and again after each failure. Personally I'd like to see more of what the new arrivals are capable of than the mediocre Jacketeers

Excellent, thoughtful, well-written piece, DW. Much as I liked Walter, I always got the feeling he was winging it to a degree, which sometimes worked for him but more often did not. With him in charge, I only ever felt we would at best end up mid-table, as we did under Kenny (albeit in a less interesting and entertaining manner), and no progress at all is not on Fosun's agenda. Unfortunately he had to go, and Fosun now have a huge decision to make on the next appointment.

Well, take Jed Wallace for example. He was really running into form, two goals including that cracker against Birmingham. He hasn't had a look in since.

That was Joe Mason with the goal against Blues?

Also I may be in a minority of one, but I dont get the big deal about Saiss. Especially when we keep losing with him.

Started against Barnsley and Huddersfield following that and was shite in both according to all reports.

I'm still a fan, but he's very very patchy.

Wallace and Mason were both largely playing on the right of the front three, that spot has been taken by Costa who has been our best player for the last six weeks.

This is it really, we do still have a chance of doing something this season but for a start, we really need a couple of 4-5 win streaks over the coming months. I don't think there was any chance of that happening under Zenga unfortunately. We had no ability to knit performances together, we'd play well in one game (or half of one game) then we'd turn up for the next one looking like a bunch of strangers.

Saiss isn't the problem in midfield its the other 2, he has been quality so far exactly what we have needed. I can see a debate coming similar to Henry although I think hes much better than Henry was even before Wigangate. our problems in midfield stem from the fact the other 2 don't really seem to know what they are doing, if we are playing 2 deeper CM ie Coady and Saiss with an attacking midfielder further up the pitch it suits Edwards more but the quality just isn't there to make it a permanent fixture & so far I see little to suggest Tex can do it. Not to bang on about 4-4-2 more than I already have but 1 DM & 1 box to box would be better IMO Saiss & Prince being the central 2 or possibly Coady if we are to play 2 out and out wingers.

The main thing I want to see from the new manager is balance, we seem to always lack it in one area or another and it impacts on the rest of the team, no more Prince on the wing and for me CBJ comes in at left back and the others can fight it out for RB.

I think we have a very good squad for this division, really. Don't underestimate how an unfocused and inconsistent coach, unsure of how to set up his team, can make good players look worse than they are.

(We do still need a better centre-back option, though, and another striker since Gladon looks a punt that isn't paying off.)
