I would happily take Moyes if Sunderland give him the boot.

I've changed the title, seems more appropriate than 'Zenga sacked'.

100%. He's been dealt duff hands since United (where he wasn't *that* awful, that squad deserves a lot of the blame) but his Everton team was good for years and years, and that experience won't have just disappeared.

Don't know if his heart would be in a job like Wolves though, even if we could offer him enough money. Might want to take time off.

His Manchester United experience seems to have affected Moyes, and he has struggled in his jobs since then. He did an excellent job at Everton, but Old Trafford might have scarred him for life.

Same as Lambert for me: want a manager who is on an upward curve, not someone who's failed in his last two jobs

After taking some time to think about it, these are the six I'd want us to be looking at:

Dieter Hecking
Marco Silva
Michael O'Neill
Gary Rowett
Graham Alexander
Paul Clement

Lambert is a more realistic target but the Villa fans I know don't speak well of him at all. It's a difficult one having your best players sold and no real investment in replacements.

My first choice would be Rowett and he is very much on an upward curve.

I like the look of Vitor Pereira too. I don't want a Neanderthal manager who focuses more on work ethic than tactics and technique

+1 on the neanderthal manager thing

While big Sam or Pearson would probably get us up and keep us up, IMO they are old school and the football would almost certainly be dull, I'd prefer a younger more forward thinking coach who would probably be foreign, I've no names in mind, I'm far too lazy to do the research, if we stay with a Brit then wouldn't be horrified to give Lambert a go.
I think Rob Edwards might have it in him in the future but currently too young/inexperienced for the Wolves job, also suspect he's a bit too close to the Jacket era players.

Well any hopes i had that Rob Edwards might be a new broom were seriously fucked by yesterday's team selection.
Frankly i would give it to our own DW, talks more sense than anyone else i have heard so far.

Bit harsh to judge him on his first match, he's stuck with the defenders we've got and not one of em deserves to be picked currently. As for the rest of the team the only major mistake was picking Wallace instead of Cav, also maybe Bod needs a rest, looks mentally and physically fucked, so Dicko needs to step up to the plate

I've still got reservations about Clement to be honest. While Derby obviously have some deep lying issues his stint there was fucking awful. I'm also still struggling to think of a highly regarded coach who's stepped up into management and mad a good fist of it, but my knowledge of football coaches is OKish at best and memory is even worse.

Graham Alexander is an interesting suggestion. Just hope Thelwell has the imagination to look at people like that. I think all of us want an intelligent, forward-thinking coach. The days of "knock it up to the big man and run the channels" are hopefully behind us

Add Marcelino and that's mine as well.

Why is Scolari (16/1) at shorter odds than the likes of McCarthy (18/1)?!

Probably as I can't imagine any way Mick would want to come back. Never go back and all that.

Hecking is beginning to really intrigue me. Hopefully our recruitment guys at least take a look at his credentials.

Quite a few on twitter banging on about Warburton. Would he leave Rangers for us? Not sure myself.
