New - The things that really annoy you

Plus they just spent thousands going through a recruitment process. They aren’t binning that. More likely to tell the cunt arranging the meeting to turn it in.

What are your working hours?
Its a woolly area as its "Agile working"

Which means I can do a 9-5 one day, a 9-9.30 and the rest on TWF the next, 8-6 the next etc. Yesterday for example I was up in Leeds and worked 8-3.30

All about fitting into the customers "needs" but ensuring I don't go above my weekly hours of working. Handy for example as tomorrow I have to nip out twice in the working day to take and pick the dogs up from the groomers. Got to do these meetings as they are customer hand overs but friggin annoying as I know this one will go on for more than a hour as the bloke doing do will go and on and on

They got Kenny, mate, I think you'll find they spent £100's

There's a good chance Kenny's hours are 9-5.30 and he's just moaning because he wants an early dart before his holiday :)

Hours are not correct but the reason is correct

Got shit to sort out before driving down to London at 4am the next day to catch the Eurostar to Brussels.

I probably spent more attending the interviews than they did getting me,

Although they did spend a small fortune plonking me a hotel for the best part of my first 2 weeks

Very easy to say that meeting (which is outside normal hours) just doesn’t work for you that day. I would say I can do similar the day before or a day after I get back

I'm a coward though...

Next Wednesday I will have been at the company for a month. As the "rookie" do not want to play the bastard role just yet. Wait until at least the probation period is over before I say "no chance mate, I was planning on packing my pants and socks at that time"

I would just ask for the time to be changed (if possible) as you have another commitment at that time but with the caveat that you can do the original if needed.

Likelihood is there are others who don't want to meet at that time either...

If they are asking you to work outside normal hours then that’s wrong LJ
It could easily be defined as a reasonable request. Many contracts now have more vagueness in hours as they want flexibility.
My contract doesn't have a number of hours, it is task oriented.
9-5 hasn't been normal hours for over a decade.

Like Kenny said though, that's difficult when you've only just started somewhere. Better to suck it up and moan to us about it.

Then in a couple of months when the feet are under the table, tell them to move their meeting.

It's not cowardice, it's realism/pragmatism. You know where the balance of power lies. It's not a 50:50 relationship- no employment contract is.
In a few months you'll have proven your worth & built relationships to enable you to discreetly explore options.
In the probation period, it's fucking difficult to do much more than say yes (even if through gritted teeth!)

It isn't difficult if you phrase it correctly and say you will ultimately do the meeting anyway if required.

It's polite to ask if a more convenient time can be found, don't just demand the meeting be moved. I wouldn't expect that from anyone who had been working somewhere for 10 years let alone one month.

Just lie and tell them you are flying that evening and need to leave by 4 at the latest.
