Loan Watch 2017-2018

My biggest takeaway from our season in League 1 was that the quality of goalkeeping at that level (and presumably below) is absolutely awful. A bigger drop off compared to the outfield positions by some orders of magnitude.

Glad we got back up immediately. Anyway...

Haiti have some good attacking players so Duck will be expecting a few decent opportunities.

The finishing is generally dire too. We had many occasions where we'd allow someone clean through on goal (probably Stearman's fault) and they'd just fluff it. The way teams play is actually half decent.

Bristol Rovers were very good down here a couple of weeks ago and indeed have won 6-0 today away from home.

A shorter round-up this week due to the international break;

Lee Evans - Wigan, League One.

Sent off for a silly reaction to a foul at Scunthorpe. Wigan won 2-1.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell - MK Dons, League One.

Another goal for EEL. This time directing a header across the keeper at the near post. However they lost 4-1 at home to Bradford.

Goal around 58 seconds;

Duckens 'The Duck' Nazon - Coventry City, League Two.

Coventry missed his goalscoring touch while he was off on international duty with Haiti. They drew 0-0 at Barnet.

Jon Flatt - Cheltenham Town, League Two.

Still on the bench.

Will Randall - Forest Green Rivers, League Two.

Came on as sub after 70 minutes in a 1-1 draw at Notts County.

Aaron Simpson, Aaron Hayden and Connor Johnson - AFC Telford, Conference North.

No sign of Hayden and Simpson but Johnson played the full game in a 2-1 win over Boston.

Ross Finnie - Gloucester City, National League South.

An unused sub.

Conor Levingston - Hednesford Town, Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

Not in the squad at the moment.

Ryan Leak - TNS FC, Welsh Premier League.

A full game in a 4-0 win over Elgin in the Iron-Bru cup. They're now in the Quarter Finals.

Duckens 'The Duck' Nazon - Coventry City, League Two.[/B]

Coventry missed his goalscoring touch while he was off on international duty with Haiti. They drew 0-0 at Barnet.

And he only went and scored twice for Haiti against Japan today. A 3-3 draw in the end.

So far this season he looks like he should be here, he looks on fire just now.

Sending him out on loan was the right move. Still a very inexperienced player. Don't forget at the beginning of they year he was nobbing around in the Indian League. He wouldn't get a start right now, so rather than the odd bench appearance he is getting games. We only sent him until January so he keeps impressing he will be close to the 1st team on his return

From this weekend;

Dominic Iorfa - Ipswich Town, Championship.

A full game in their 1-0 loss at Sheffield Utd.

Jordan Graham - Fulham, Championship.

An unused sub as Fulham came from two down to draw at home to Preston.

Joe Mason - Burton Albion, Championship.

Came back into the team at Ashton Gate and played 75 minutes of a 0-0 draw before being replaced.

Lee Evans - Wigan Athletic, League One

Suspended. Wasn't missed too much as Wigan beat Southend 3-0.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell - MK Dons, League One.

A full game against Jackett's Pompey. Sloppily gave the ball away at the back to hand Pompey their first on a plate. Thankfully a long, long way from our first team.

Jack Ruddy - Oldham Athletic, League One.

Still warming the bench. Oldham won 1-0.

Duckens 'The Duck' Nazon - Coventry City, League Two.

A lively, if frustrating, afternoon for The Duck at Accrington. Had three efforts saved and zipped one just over the bar. Coventry lost 1-0.

Jon Flatt - Cheltenham Town, League Two.

Still on the bench. Cheltenham kept a clean sheet.

Will Randall - Forest Green Rovers, League Two.

Came on as sub at half time in a shocking 4-0 defeat at home to Newport.

Aaron Simpson, Aaron Hayden and Connor Johnson - AFC Telford, Conference North.

Johnson and Simpson start against FC United of Manchester in a 3-1 win. Johnson lasted the whole game and was described as composed' even though he picked up a booking. Simpson was subbed towards the end.

Ryan Leak - TNS FC, Welsh Premier League.

Another full game in a 6-1 thrashing of Prestatyn, but was to blame for a poor backpass that gave away the consolation goal.

Jordan Allan - Airdrieonians, Scottish League One.

Subbed on just after the hour mark and almost immediately played a crucial role in a goal, smashing the ball off the post only for Willis Furtado to swoop in like a bird and equalise.

Paul Gladon - Heracles, Eredivisie.

Played 75 minutes of a 1-1 draw against Vitesse.

Graham not even getting token minutes off the bench. Where does he go from here?

From this weekend;

Dominic Iorfa - Ipswich Town, Championship.

Dropped from the team and an unused sub in a 1-0 derby defeat at home to Norwich.

Jordan Graham - Fulham, Championship.

Not included in the squad in a 2-1 loss at his old club Villa. He's well and truly fallen out of favour.

Joe Mason - Burton Albion, Championship.

Not in the squad due to injury. Burton lost again.

Lee Evans - Wigan Athletic, League One.

Still suspended.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell - MK Dons, League One.

Finally a loanee plays. A full game in a 4-4 draw vs Oldham but another dodgy defensive display from EEL. Spooned a clearance straight to the opposition for the second. Jack Ruddy was on bench for Oldham.

Duckens 'The Duck' Nazon - Coventry City, League Two.

Completed another 90 minutes. 0-0. Booked for an off the ball altercation.

Jon Flatt - Cheltenham Town, League Two.

Still on the bench and another Cheltenham clean sheet.

Will Randall - Forest Green Rivers, League Two.

Another unused sub in a 2-1 win

Aaron Simpson, Aaron Hayden and Connor Johnson - AFC Telford, Conference North.

Johnson and Simpson start and form half of the defence that keeps a clean sheet in a 2-0 win at North Ferriby. Simpson provided the assist for the second.

Ryan Leak - TNS FC, Welsh Premier League.

Another full game in a 2-1 win at Aberystwyth.

Jordan Allan - Airdrieonians, Scottish League One
.

Rewarded with a start at Arbroath but was subbed in the second half in a 7-1 loss.

Paul Gladon - Heracles, Eredivisie.

On for the last 5 minutes again in a 3-0 defeat against Locadia's PSV.

Conor Levingston's loan has ended early at Hednesford due to injury

From the weekend;

Dominic Iorfa - Ipswich Town, Championship.

An unused sub again in a last-gasp win at Burton.

Jordan Graham - Fulham, Championship.

Not included in the squad once again. Not really much point him staying there.

Joe Mason - Burton Albion, Championship.

Not in the squad due to injury.

Lee Evans - Wigan Athletic, League One.

Another unused sub. Played 90 minutes (and scored a penalty) in the Auto Windscreens Shield mid-week though.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell - MK Dons, League One.

Out of the squad this week, maybe a recurrence of his injury.

Jack Ruddy - Oldham Athletic, League One.

Back in the team due to a bereavement and found himself picking the ball out of the net twice in the opening 10 minutes. Not much he could do about either of this but he did let a third slip through his body. Finished 2-3.

Duckens 'The Duck' Nazon - Coventry City, League Two.

Came on as sub for the last 10 minutes and grabbed Coventry's third in a 3-0 win at Luton. A deflected close-range finish after picking the ball up 40 yards out.

Goal on 1.40.

Will Randall - Forest Green Rivers, League Two.

Another unused sub in a 2-0 against Morecambe.

Aaron Simpson, Aaron Hayden and Connor Johnson - AFC Telford, Conference North.

Johnson and Simpson played full games in a 1-1 draw with Southport. Hayden was an unused sub

Ryan Leak - TNS FC, Welsh Premier League.

Another full game in another 2-1 win.

Jordan Allan - Airdrieonians, Scottish League One.

Came on for the last 20 minutes in a 2-2 draw.

Paul Gladon - Heracles, Eredivisie.

A full game in a 3-0 win.

Not going well at all for Jordan Graham. Gotta wonder where he goes from here. For all the potential that people have seen, I expect we'll sell/let him go at the end of the season.

Duck surely will get a chance in January.

Duck surely will get a chance in January.

The best he will get is a subs bench place and maybe a Cup game (Let's see if we let Coventry play him in the 1st Round of the FA Cup). I love the Duck but it is going to take something extra special for him to break through with us. The lad will get a good career in this Country though

Not so sure about that. We'll buy another forward, Bonatini has been excellent and if The Duck is getting the game time and doing well elsewhere, I don't think there's much point bringing him back to spend the vast majority of the time on our bench as he wouldn't be our first choice striker.

I did only say a chance. Minutes off the bench in relief of Leo to try and stake a claim is what I was imagining. And if he doesn't by the end of January I'm sure he'll have suitors in League One for a loan (or purchase).
