Leeds (A) - verdict

I had to laugh at the two numpties commentating for Sky as Traore was getting ready to come on.
'Look they're massaging his arms (laughter from both). Well you have to have warm arms to play.'

Good to see they've done their homework and know what's going on.
Glad someone mentioned this. Fucken noobs.

Apparently Kalvin Philips is out for 6 weeks with a shoulder injury

Good, clogging shithouse.

Didn't see how he got injured but as he tried injuring our lot about five times then it's swings and roundabouts. Horrible player.

He went down holding his shoulder in the 2nd half. It was either Neto or Podence who put him down

Leeds are getting a few injuries now, you've got to wonder how it will affect them.

And Leeds next march is of course the lucky villa

I thought he did it overreacting to a Jimenez challenge? Could be wrong though

Good chance you are right. I can't remember what I was doing at 11am today so yesterday evening is blurred mess

It wasn't headed out at all though, was it.

Come on now lads.

We essentially scored off the cross, and the man who crossed it was clearly offside.

Im not moaning about the call BUT there was a goal scored last season (think it was for Liverpool) where similar happened and the reason the VAR chaps said it stood was the goal came from a different phase and that new phase started when the defence headed the initial cross away

Monsieur Saiss is not a million miles away from that (rubbish) header and we all know it.

Blame the wee man when he was looking right across the line and didn't need to be offside.

I completely agree, however.... The rules make this a grey area and I expect to see a goal given in similar circumstances this season.

I was also confused as to how long it took VAR to see he was offside, it was pretty clear he was off on the first replay!

It's frustrating that Pod was shown to be in an offside position, no-one is disputing that. Because the defender headed the ball, that ends that phase of play so VAR should not have been involved in showing Pod to be offside, and as the linesman didn't flag, that should be the end of the phase.

So when the Saiss shot goes into the goal, that is in another phase started by the defender's header, and should therefore have counted.

That is what has happened in other games as explained by another team's player. Consistency is everything.

It is the ability of the defending side to reset that determines a new phase of play - in this case had the header cleared Saiss rather than fall to his feet then Podence’s offside would have been discounted. Leeds were rewarded for poor defending but would have been punished for good defending had we gone on and scored.

VAR is stupid and every time they try and fix it they just break it in a different way.

Where have you read that?

I was of the same opinion as Andros Townsend so will be interested in where your opinion comes from.
