Giro d'Italia / Tour de France

There has been dominance before. Discovery / US Postal drug ring, plus also Banesto when Indurain chewed everyone up. It didn't really do that much harm in terms of competition with Big Mig. Obviously a very different case with he who shall not be named.

I am actually encouraged by what Mitchelton-Scott are putting together. Decent team there. Plus Movistar, Katusha-Alpecin, and Bora-Hansgrohe are good outfits. Sky are only ahead really on budget and that gap can be closed I reckon.

Geraint Thomas officially confirmed as yellow jersey in Paris. Brilliant. I am delighted for him.

Thomas looks shattered. Great win complete with dodgy best man speech at the end.

Excellent timing form Thomas given that his contract expires this year. Bidding war or a separation of him and Froome for more GCs if he stays at Sky?

Of the other riders not yet mentioned, Bernal looks like a real prospect.

Brailsford specifically said look out for Kwiatkowski in his sky interview yesterday.

Whitchurch school. Geraint Thomas, Sam Warburton, Gareth Bale all within a couple of years of each other, that's pretty special.

Calzaghe’s record is one of the best in boxing. Only two boxers have had more successful title defences, Louis and Chavez, not bad company to be in!

Woosnqm was the only other I could think of but Calzaghe's a good shout.

Thomas and Froome are both riding the Tour of Britain from 2nd September. Would that mean neither are likely to ride the Vuelta?

Excellent stage so far today. And the final climb is a brute. Kwiatkowski looks in good nick, but Yates is going to re-take red I think before Covadonga tomorrow (which is one of my favourite climbs of all - it is BEAUTIFUL). This is turning into a really good Vuelta. Sadly no Angliru, but it is still stonking stuff.
