Wolves 1-2 Man City: Verdict Thread

That dive was the point at which I fell out with modern football. Sat their miserable for the rest of the game even when we scored the winner I was unhappy.
For me it was the disallowed goal v Leicester at Molineux.

I have seen some utter shite when at Molineux but that 2nd half is the most miserable I have ever been at a game.
It was a decline that had started ages ago but that one killed it.

I think it was Murphy that mentioned it on MOTD, but we don't moan enough anymore.

Why weren't Dawson, Sa, Lemina etc all in the ref's face after the Silva incident? City would have been, just look at the penalty they got from RAN last season (another fucking disgrace) we've gone from moaning too much with Neves as leader, to being too passive with refs with Kilman and Lemina.
What’s the point?

We moan and get nothing. We don’t moan and get nothing.

By reinforcing their bias against us.

Neves & Mourinho used to do it all the time, never used to stop the refs fucking us over.
We don't know that do we? It might have been worse.

Every other club does it, we have stopped, it makes us an easy touch.

Look at how City always harangue the ref.

It's not so much from a "harangue the ref" perspective but I do think Coady's captaincy has been shown in retrospect to be underrated. We haven't been properly managed on field since he left. Neves was too emotional, Kilman has the personality of Ready Brek and it's impacted on Lemina's form.

Gonna have to disagree with you on this one. We don’t get any major decisions go our way and are constantly fucked over by the officials and VAR. Have been for years at this point. Us whining to the refs won’t change their minds & if anything, will probably result in more cards/suspensions.

Just got to accept that they all hate us. That’s not me being the victim - but more so what the evidence suggests.

Yep, I get what you're saying. I just think some modicum of defending our corner with the refs verbally may help us.

It can't do us any harm.

It seemed a valid point when Murphy went through it.

I dunno, I used to be able to stomach Ready Brek.

IMO Coady was Wolves finest captain for 50 years - you’d have to go back to Mike Bailey to find a better on-field leader for Wolves.

He was fantastic, in every respect.

So much of the Nuno era wasn't appreciated enough at the time.

Nuno himself, Coady, Bennett, Saiss, Adama, Jota all much better than they were given credit for.

I've been a Wolves supporter for over 57 years now, and in that time, we've only had 2 really good teams.

I define really good as when the club was able to sustain for at least 3 seasons a period of seriously threatening and beating the top teams (ie we were one of the top 6 or 7 teams in the league at the time). That rules out a one-off season like 1979/80.

The two times Wolves were really a top team were from 1970/71 to 1973/74 and from 2017/18 to 2020/21. Yeah I know 17/18 we were in the Championship but it was still a fucking delight to watch.

In the early 70s it was lost as McGarry was incapable of replacing his ageing stalwarts in Bailey, Wagstaffe and Dougan. In recent times it has been lost mostly due to the incompetent interfering, and undermining, of a certain Jeff Shi (admittedly COVID didn't help).

If we have to wait for another 50 years to see another really top Wolves team I won't be around to see it 😢.

If you're talking the wider fanbase I'm not sure, every Wolves fan I speak to holds Nuno and his squad in the highest regard.

There was a small minority of stupid children on Twitter who let themselves down in Nuno's last season but while they were quite vocal they were a tiny minority really.

Same for me Kiwi. I always used to say those early 70s sides were the best I've seen and most fun to watch.
Now I think it was the Nuno era, as I've said before that EL season is my favourite ever.

Still grumpy about not veing able to go to the 74 league cup final.

And there was a clown on here wasting his time sending screenshots (that proved nothing) and making out like Nels is some sort of Sunday league pub player.
As usual, the video doesn't show the crosses he allowed into the box. 3 in the first 3 minutes of the second half. Time and time again he stood off his man. Let's see if he does better today and let's see if you've learned anything about defending. It's the Premier League and you have to be on your game all the time...not just selective highlights showing a rescue act.
