England World Cup Squad

Captain Hendo now getting in the way when we finally get a decent chance.

Hopeless.

Stopped blaming the assistants now after watching them spend most of the season at Molineux needing the ref to make basic decisions for them. Fast turning into being as useless as the one they put behind the goal in European games

Did you see the Welbeck one vs Milan? Your man behind the goal is literally inches away and they still made completely the wrong call between them.

Missed that one.

Just amazed how many times this season a straight forward throw in call, the lino has looked at the ref for his signal before putting his flag up

Wow, we've scored! Hold the front page.

Deserved goal I think

Holland are fucking gash

They are terrible. Keeper's had a mare there too.

We are winning in spite oif the selections not because of them. How shit are Netherlands?

At times its like watching a championship game. Endeavour, moments of quality then some real sloppy shit

You can only beat what is in front of you

68+ mins we have been the better team. Holland are nowt special (or fucking gash as I described them earlier) so all we can do is play well enough to beat them. It has been far from a flowing performance, a lot to pick out of it on a negative slant but they are doing a job. Walker at Cb has made zero difference as Holland have been generally crap going forward.

Chances of winning the world cup based on this performance - Still 0.

Fair enough.

For me I think Danny Mills hits the nail on the head with this concise summary - I think this has been a good game thus far

"If we look at this performance in the bigger picture, is it good enough to beat Tunisia and Panama at the World Cup? Yes. That means England get out of the group for the first time in a long time."

England win , clean sheet. Not quite as enthusiastic as the TV lot but a wins a win.

Well, we did enough. We were a bit better in the second half and deserved to beat woeful opposition. But I can't be encouraged by it. We aren't going to score enough, we aren't going to get the best out of our best players and we play such boring shit it's unreal.

I only watched from 50 minutes onwards, lots of possession and kept ball fairly well under pressure just not very adventurous. To be fair, we do look more like a team than recent England teams but it’s not particularly inspiring.

Walker at right centre back is a strange experiment. I can imagine he would do OKay there and add pace to the back line but don’t think it’s making the most of his strengths.

Controlled the game against poor opposition, I’ll go against the grain and say I thought England played half decent tonight.

I thought we played better football under Woy. They dominated all of their group games and I was very positive going into the Iceland game. I'm not going to get too excited about last night's performance.

I don't see the point in Jordan Henderson showing for the ball in deep positions near defenders if he himself cant see a forward progressive pass from which England can move up the field. More often than not the recipient of a Henderson pass finds himself looking to recycle under more pressure than before. Going round in circles going nowhere.

Henderson still hasn't had a good game for England and indeed has had one good season at club level ever. That was when he was charged with being Gerrard's legs in Liverpool's midfield, forget technique, just provide the energy. A deep-lying playmaker he is not. The master of demanding the ball off a centre half then passing it straight back to him (too hard, normally) and running away.

Trouble is the better coaches playing against England will see Henderson and use the receiver of his passes as the trigger to press quickly high up the pitch.
Winning the ball because his distribution isn't bang on.

Thought we played well tonight.
Dont see the issue with Walker there in a friendly he now knows he can do a job there does that mean we can take 1 cente half less and 1 more creative player knowing if we have a couple of injuries we still have cover ?

Livermore again dont have an issue will he make the final squad probably not so no issues there.
Young again no issue today will he make the final squad nope but have a look, if we lose left backs in the final games then at least he's had a look at him as a left back. He could very easily play wing back if we really had too.
I really like Maguire very good on the ball some excellent passes tonight.
Lingard is an excellent player dont agree at all that if he was at Burnley he would not get in. If he was at Burnley likely would not be as good a player where as he is in the Utd team because he's a good player 13 goals feom midfield this season.
Henderson had a really good first half less good second half but there was less space 2nd half
Pickord plays because his distribution isnthe best of any of the keepers.
Won't win it too many better teams but we will have one of the youngest teams around 24 average.
That looks good for the future.

More importantly we can.play good football we keep the ball, pass it, move, break better than we have evee done.

Anyone watch the England U21s against Romania at Molineux? Was on BT Sport 2. We won 2-1.

Hagi (son of Gheorghe) looked pretty good for them. Better than Bright Enobakhare. Would be a nice cheap signing.

Also liked Radu their keeper.
