Coronavirus

So we have a new Strain, which is has led to the Tier 4 stuff and we now have a new new Strain (South African import) which makes the new strain look weak. Fookin great but on the plus side, the Chelsea Pensioners are now getting vaccinated

So we now have no part of the country in Tier 1?

Nice to know from Door Matt that "we aren't going to give up now".

Well I kind of didn't expect you to, that's sort of your job. Stop lowering the bar.

This South African stuff is such bullshit, honestly. Yeah, we must have thousands of them flying in every day. I rather think we're in the shit because you've had two lockdowns (plus loads of other restrictions) and NOTHING has changed, because you've pissed around and wasted time, plus it's more important for you to do the "popular" thing - which isn't even popular - than the right thing.

What a mess.

Previously it was Cornwall Isle of Wight, Herefordshire and the Isles of Scilly.

I know he bumped 3 of those up or did he include the Isles of Scilly with Cornwall?

I just don't understand why they're only moving areas into tier 4 where the infection rates are already quite high. It's constantly locking the stable door after the horse has bolted. We've seen thousands of people leave the South to try and 'beat' the restrictions, and they'll now me frollicking throughout tier 3 areas, until they get moved up when it's too late

Did you not hear? They've been consistently ahead of the curve. The Home Secretary said so.

This is actually really easy. Christmas already got torpedoed at the weekend so everyone would just accept a lockdown now, however begrudgingly. But no, let's go piecemeal for a while for absolutely no reason and it'll cause more cases and deaths. And one of the latter is too many when it's blatantly negligence AGAIN.

Rage inducing it really is.

Aye, I doubt there's a person in the country that would have objected to proper lockdown from December 18th to January 11th.

80 Tory MP's?

All eggs in one basket right now and that is the Oxford Vaccine getting approved next week.

Great plan with 1 minor issue....you can't travel to Norway
Leaving all japery aside, even Orkney is moving to "Level 3" of the Scots rules from Boxing Day. Can't get a pint. Literally the most isolated part of the British Isles, I think. Yikes.

I'd have much more respect if they held their hands up and said "yes, we've made mistakes, our approach has at times been wrong, but this has been a steep learning curve for us all, unprecedented scenes, etc etc. From now we're going to <insert something that actually makes sense>".

But we know it'll all be more of the same because Captain Cockwash doesn't like giving bad news, and he won't want to do that for a whole 2-3 months.

I thought it was just mainland Scotland going into lockdown from Boxing Day?

You can still get a pint in Telford, apparently we are immune here judging by the amount of folk travelling over from other areas

They must be confident the Oxford vaccine is going to get approved and the distribution is ready to go

Level 3 in Scotland is as follows, hospitality wise:

Restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars can open indoors and outdoors for the consumption of food and non alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic drinks cannot be served. Last entry is 17:00 and all venues must be closed and all customers off the premises by 18:00. The hospitality sector should follow: sector guidance for tourism and hospitality

The maximum number of people you can meet indoors and outdoors in a restaurant, café, pub or bar is 6 which can be from up to 2 separate households.

Children under the age of 12 from these households do not count towards the total number of people permitted to gather indoors in a public place but do count towards the maximum of 2 households permitted to meet. For example a children’s party with 10 children from more than 2 separate households would not be allowable, but 6 adults and 4 children from 2 households could meet.

Where an individual household includes more than 6 people they can continue to meet as a household in hospitality premises, although the venue may impose a smaller group limit.

Table service and the wearing of face-coverings (unless exempt) when not seated by all customers is mandatory in all hospitality venues. When meeting people from more than one other household, you should think beforehand about what size of table you will need to keep physically distanced between members of your group. The venue you are visiting should be able to advise you of booking options.

You will be asked by to provide your contact details for Test and Protect purposes. This information is retained for 21 days with a view to sharing with Test and Protect Teams, if required.

Hospitality venues are required to put in place additional measures to minimise transmission of COVID-19. For example hand sanitiser stations and adequate ventilation. There will also be signs to inform customers whether the venue is in a 2 metres or 1 metre social distancing area.

You should stay at least 2 metres apart from people from other households at all times, unless the venue is operating 1 metre distancing due to additional measures being in place to avoid transmission. Physical distancing and good hand hygiene remain the most effective measures in reducing the transmission of COVID-19. Therefore, distancing requirements need to be maintained, where reasonably practicable, at all times, including when waiting to enter premises and when seated.

You should avoid visiting multiple hospitality premises on the same day. In particular, do not visit more than one pub or bar on the same day, as this increases the risk of transmission.

Takeaways can still operate as normal, provided food and drink is sold for consumption off the premises. Face coverings and physical distancing rules must be followed.

Hotels and other accommodation providers can still serve food to guests staying in their premises up to 22:00. Room service, including alcohol, is allowed as normal.

Remember they went big on this a good month before Chunky McFuck did.

Just go for a pint in Sturgeon's local - don't even need a mask in there

I really don't understand why all countries haven't closed all their borders apart from freight and 'special' cases.. in fact I don't know why that didn't happen right at the start of the outbreak
