Coronavirus

Just need to put us all in Tier 4 & have done with it - at least we will know where we are.

Anyway this is more interesting - well it would have been if I could work out how to post a video up here since the changeover :(

There are no doubt a shed load of variants, it’s just that in the UK & SA we both have very well established chemical weapons labs so have put them to use. And we both have populist politicians who look for any convenient excuse.

Undoubtedly, only some will come into prominence though. Unfortunately for the UK, it's been a case of "whoever smelt it dealt it", there are sure to be strains in other countries which are yet to be uncovered

Didn't the guy from Pfizer say they had already looked at over 20 variants before the one that we know about from last week

Or maybe they just didn't use them for political capital?

I don't follow, sorry.

I understand we have some of the best facilities for understanding this kind thing. I heard Wales did more sequencing this last week than the whole of France for the entire epidemic

Mutations may well make it more transmittable, but viruses don't/can't think - they really don't want to kill us as they die at the same time. They just want to be able to move on to others.

Whatever they do then suspect that it will be no more deadly than the original version, though clearly is for a proportion of the population.

Speaking to a guy in the pub tonight who does testing at Princess Royal in Telford. Said they are now at full capacity of Covid patients and no more beds for them

This is just a brag that you can get in a pub... bastard.

Heard today that a more local hub then at Dorchester & Yeovil hospitals are going to be starting roll out from 1st Jan - a 20 min drive for me though thats not an issue for me as I still can - will be more of a problem for those who can't.

May change if the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine gets approved as this will be able to be administered in more places. Even given my age don't expect to hear anything till at least late Jan.

Get the over 70's vaccinated. Reduce the deaths save the NHS. With a very optimistic recovery rate for the under 70's anybody else trust their own immunity? It amazes me the obsession with vaccinating all people when the general outcome of lockdown is business failures and mental health issues.

This is exactly the plan laid out by JVNI

Eradication is something to think about once people aren't dying anymore
