That's the problem with Blair though, anything he says now is just shouting into an empty room. For a man who won 3 GE's he is disliked across the board. A less popular ex leader than Thatcher I'd say, not hated by as many, but liked by fewer. All that praying with Bush certainly fucked up his legacy

No idea, but it could be that a single dose doesn't give long-term immunity. I'd have thought if it was 91% per se, there would be no need at all to give a second dose. There must be a better reason than an extra 4%.

"John Bell, a Professor of Medicine at Oxford University has said the Oxford Vaccine could get the go ahead "just after Christmas". He has also stated the data behind the jab is looking "better than ever"."

The Oxford news is going to be good new Boris Johnson needs next week after having to lock us down a bit more

From what I've read the T cell response is the same after 1 dose as it is after 2. T cells are the things which give long term immunity.

It's the other things that the second dose causes a bigger response in (antibodies etc)

"In the the Commons Science and Technology Committee hearing in the UK, Nervtag member Professor Wendy Barclay dismissed the suggestion from former prime minister Tony Blair that the first dose of the two-stage Pfizer vaccine should be given to as many people as possible initially.

The current policy sees half as many people get both required doses of the jab.
Prof Barclay said: “I think that the issue with that (Mr Blair’s suggestion) is that the vaccine is on the basis of being given two doses, and the efficacy is on that basis.
“To change at that point, one would have to see a lot more analysis coming out from perhaps the clinical trial data.”

She agreed with the suggestion of Labour’s committee member Graham Stringer that any such change to the established vaccine policy was “too risky”."

So it's 91% with Pfizer but Oxford still requires two jabs to get 60%.

Definitely has merit if we can double our coverage with Pfizer - the accountants will be happy too!
My eldest lad who has volunteered for the Oxford vaccine has been told different. He is due his 2nd shot 11 January, has to fill out daily log, weekly self tests and will do so for the next 2 years.

Which bit did I get wrong?

Hancock rocking up at 3pm today to whack us all into Tier 4. Probably.

Alas, Boris doesn't want to do that bit.

Just call it what it fucking is for Christ's sake.

The announcement needs some emotion and Hancock rocked the fake crying on TV 2 weeks ago

No Tier 4 here yet....for now.

Not that it makes any difference as Tier 3 is still a bag of wank.

If they made the Tier 3 rules make more sense then there'd be less resentment.

Tomorrow Rach is coming here (we aren't seeing each other on Christmas Day as with seeing family on other side, it's just a mess with the restrictions) and we're going to the nice cafe in Codsall. So we can go in there and queue up indoors and order our sandwiches, cakes and drinks. But we can't sit on the seats they normally have outside. Got to go on sit on the bench that's er, 10 yards away. In fact as I'll be sat right next to her instead rather than the other end of the table, I'll be in closer contact.

Outdoor seating areas are no risk at all FFS.
