Coronavirus

Well after the last weekend and tonights performance I'm looking for something positive....this is all I've got.
DIL went to doctors this morning ( same as ours). The doctor she saw had just come out of a meeting. She told DIL they had been discussing how they were going to organise the vaccinations with the Oxford vaccine which would start 27th January

My eldest lad had his first shot of the Oxford vaccine last week.

January? Not December?

A quick scan this morning and I think I will just slit my wrists now and save myself

- Predictions of 700,000 cases a week by Feb and these were the numbers put to the Government before the new strain stuff
- Full lockdown incoming. Should be the same as last April/May
- Worst of all it seems the way Ministers have been told describe this new strain is "bouncy"

Uğur Şahin told a press conference that his team had been working on trying to find out whether the company’s vaccine works on the UK variant, to establish whether it was even necessary to adapt the vaccine. Results would be known within two weeks, he said.”

“We know the mutation”, he said, adding that having worked on around 20 different mutations, he was “confident” that the current vaccine would work on the UK variant. “We believe there is no reason to be concerned or worried,” he said.

Sahin said whilst it was technically possible to come up with a new vaccine batch within six weeks, it was highly unlikely that it would be administered immediately “because we would not have efficacy data”.

He said it was “more of a complex question” than creating a new vaccine and administering it immediately.

#BREAKING BioNTech says can make mutation-beating vaccine in six weeks

Does that mean that the current one will not be as effective against the new strain?
BioNTech have said they think the current vaccine will continue to be effective but if not, or there are mutations in the future then they'll only need 6 weeks to create a new one, which is pretty astonishing, but is a result of the way they've created the vaccine.

If the Oxford one stops working then that would be much more of a problem.

She has extensive experience of the Israeli government's actions I believe.

691 deaths today.

I reckon we'll be in full lockdown by new year. Well, it'll be branded as 98% of the country being in tier 4, but samesies.

100% when they do the review on the 30th (was meant to be one for London tomorrow but presume that has gone as they reviewed the earlier review early to put them in T4).
I think it will be back to March levels with schools closed, sport stopped, only go outside to exercise and stockpile loo rolls

Yep. It will be done before New Years Eve and it is going to last months.
Well till the 2nd Feb at least.

That's the next time Boris promised his MP's a vote on tiers/lockdowns. He will be praying the vaccine numbers are high by then (we all should tbh)
