Coronavirus

They must do something. This new variant has such a quick transmission that Europe has closed itself to us, but we havent shut ourselves down.

Also countries all over Europe have been closing their borders since this morning and through the afternoon, so why didnt they get a COBR meeting organised for this evening? Why say nothing all day and then say we will meet tomorrow?

Fatty McCunt probably has a dinner at Chequers that he moans about having to pay for himself.

Imagine appointing a CEO that you knew was fundamentally lazy and disorganised, didn't like making difficult decisions, had a poor track record, a dreadful appearance, couldn't deliver a speech properly, refused to answer questions, had a chaotic personal life and had been sacked for lying (twice). He's also already committed to a course of action that you know will absolutely collapse the company's finances and future for no possible gain.

Well, that's what the public did 12 months ago.

Edit: wrong thread.

Well a quick scan of the news this morning. Going well isn't it.

Merry Christmas everyone...

Sydney going into lockdown after a serious outbreak of 83 cases. In total Australia has recorded just over 28,000 cases in the pandemic. We recorded more than that in a day yesterday.

The difference in the way governments choose to respond to the issue is quite depressing when we are on the shit end of the stick with this goon in charge.

So Boris has got to try to negotiate with France and the wider EU to open up trade routes and find a solution that works for everyone

It's just as well he's fostered a good relationship with the EU during his time as PM.

Great news for those who want us to close our borders...

I presume the French and co just want to see the actual science behind the claims from the weekend. Presume they will want actual proof rather than a document put together from a google search and a scan of virus mutations on Wiki though

Completely closed borders might be the only way, that includes borders between all EU countries, although they will have to come up with a plan for cross border freight. The new strain is already in mainland Europe so extreme measures are probably the only way to mitigate it

My ex wife has tested positive (only mild symptoms fortunately) - kids are with her at the moment so that means I can't be with my children on Christmas Day as they need to self isolate until the 28th.

I know in the grand scheme of things it's really nothing to get annoyed about but I really can't wait til this bastard virus fucks off.

It is something to be annoyed about and understandably so. I'm very annoyed, upset, and in a way angry, My elderly frail mom can't meet her new great grand daughter and has no idea when she will be able to, she misses all her grand children, and her other daughter. My husband really misses seeing his elderly mom who is in a care home, her dementia has got a lot worse since we haven't been going, and now doesn't really understand who we are when we see her on Facetime. I'm known as Nana Sue by my Grandson.....who I have yet to meet.

Every family has things to be annoyed/upset about. It's only natural we feel this way.

Yeah, guess we all feel angry to a greater or lesser degree, nothing wrong with giving vent to it. I'm angry at the virus, I'm angry at BJ/govt, I'm especially angry at the fuckwits who just won't do the right thing

As others have said, the inability to see loved ones is reason for annoyance langers.
we're trying to come up with an alternative way to see mrs jellys kids (& their kids) now. my parents will be over xmas day, as it's the first time I'll have seen them since september, and I won't see them again until after easter, when we are hopefully able to see each other outdoors again. We've self isolated for 10 days now, and mrs jellys kids have ben supportive. The change in regulations means if we don't see her kids/drop off presents etc on the day after my folks have been it will have been unfair on her kids/grandkids, as she won't see them at all, even through a window or anything.

There's no end point to it, that's the worst of it. If Prat Hancock is saying end of Feb for Tier 4 then you can guarantee it'll be longer than that (make no mistake, we'll all be in it pretty soon).

I've been really struggling over the last couple of days with it. Making silly jokes on the Wolves bit and arguing with Louie about Bielsa will only tide me over for so long.

Its the never-ending part which, I think, gets to us all - every day is pretty much the same. I always hate the winter and the dark indoor days - this just seems to be that x 1000000.

Vaccine is our only hope I think, I wouldn't trust these incompetent fuckheads with managing a paper round.

Press conference from Boris the incompetent later. I bet that is going to be FULL of good news.

I don't both paying much attention to what any of the politicians say, they have no idea how the virus will change, evolve of how anything else will pan out.

I keep my head in the numbers and the science wherever I can.

Exactly this. If we had an end in sight we could plan things, look forward to things again, as it is, we have no idea.

I hate Winter at the best of times, the dark mornings, dark evenings just seem to make things worse. Plus all these rainy days don't help.
